It all started on a mission trip to Costa Rica. On this excursion, God proved not only to be actively working in the lives of the people they were there to help but also in starting Jacey and Eli's story. From building houses to a trip to Tortuga Island, each event helped mark the beginning.

When they returned from their mission trip, Eli took Jacey on their first date to a drive-in movie. They have been falling for each other ever since. They spent a wonderful summer together, and an abundance of memories were made. Sadly, by the end of summer, Jacey was off to start school in Abilene, and their relationship had found a temporary pause. Despite the college distance and some other obstacles thrown their way, God continuously proved to be faithful in their story as they were ultimately brought back together in the summer of 2021. Jacey attended Eli's senior prom. Eli was about to start college in Abilene, and they found themselves making their relationship official once again. They've been inseparable ever since.

Jacey and Eli have remained true to the origins of their relationship by traveling and getting to know other countries since then. They have truly continued to not only grow in their understanding of each other but their understanding of the world and God's people as well. After a semester abroad, it was clear that their relationship would soon be entering a newfound stage, with Eli proposing a year after their return.

Eli planned to propose right before hitting three years

together on July 4th, 2024. Much like their first date, Eli took Jacey to the movies. Meanwhile, back at his house, their loved ones worked diligently to set up the engagement and the party that was to follow. It ended up being a rainy afternoon, so the plans were moved indoors. Upon arriving at the house, Jacey was shocked to find her loved ones holding up signs that spelled out "Marry Me." Although the rain caused plans to be rearranged, they spent a wonderful afternoon celebrating such a monumental event. Much like His faithfulness throughout their story, God showed one more promise in the form of a rainbow to mark the start of their engagement.
