Jack & Nicola

August 2, 2025 • Aarhus, Denmark

We think Aarhus is Denmark's best kept secret! It's size, it's feel, it's food, it's buzz. You can explore the city easily on foot and we find it super safe, there's a reason it's called the 'City of smiles'. Here are some of our favourite spots / things to do...

COFFEE AND GREAT BAKES.

La Cabra

Monk

Jumbo

Coffee Collective

If you're peckish, order a 'BMO', you won't regret it!

DRINKS.

Hella, Aarhus Ø- great cocktails, awesome chill atmosphere

Mas Vino, city centre - great food and wine

Pinot, Vestergade- cosy wine bar

Salling rooftop- great views, especially on a sunny day

FOOD.

Aarhus Streetfood, Banken and Nicolinehus are three different food halls with great atmospheres and easy, affordable options

Vestelauget- serves just two options each day, one meat, one vegetarian. Great ingredients, great price. One to try if you're up for local Danish dishes

Hanzo- awesome Asian food in stylish setting with an affordable tasting menu

Skovmollen Ø- the best open sandwiches (but slightly pricey)

Mefisto- great seafood, try a 'Shooting star' if you're feeling hungry

Il Locale- Jack's favourite pizza!

Emma Emma- great brunch, order the everything plate

Cafe Drudenfuss- the best smashed avo! Order the 'avocadosandwich'

Grød, Latin Quarter- oats and chia bowls

Sesam- great poke bowls and breakfast plate

Clementine- very central, good food and cocktails

Bistro 65- French restaurant on Jaegergardsgade. Check out this street for more options as it's full of bars and restaurants and has a real European vibe

Byens Ismejeri- ice cream, all the flavours!

Tipping is not really a thing here, you can expect great food but be prepared for slower service!

OUTDOORS.

Sea dips- bring your swimwear!

Running- awesome routes through forests and along the sea front (ask Nicola for routes)

Donkey bikes / Scooters- an easy and affordable way to see the city

Infinity bridge- a unique way of 'walking on water'

Beaches- Riskov, Marselisborg

Frederiksbjerg- Denmarks take on Southern Europe with cafes and bars with outdoor seating. Great people watching spot.
