Lorrie & Jack Love Story

Lorrie and Jack were introduced as a double-blind date. Lorrie had recently attended a retreat in Colorado where another participant had offered to have his college buddy from Oahu "scout" for her. That buddy was Jack's friend Mark who had been leading a biweekly beach workout in Waikiki that was one of the staples of Jack's schedule.

Although they didn't get to meet for a few weeks, their phone conversations - including a five-hour initial call where both watched an interisland lightning storm - provided an initial foundation to make their first date familiar and fun. Jack convinced Lorrie to add a layover in Honolulu to her next flight to the mainland. After cocktails at the Royal Hawaiian and sushi downtown, the sparks were there, and they began their interisland adventures while dating.

Jack's project at the airport and a nonstop flight into Princeville proved to be too convenient, allowing for one-night visits for family introductions and football bowl game dinners. Next, the two took on interisland dating during COVID. Dozens of tests, quarantining, and inspections were additional incentives for Jack to move to Kauai. He left his career at Hensel Phelps after 14 years and moved in with Lorrie, Luna, Skye, and the family puppy Jasmine.

For the girls, someone else in the house led to a need for more space. A new home meant a two-year renovation project for the couple and moving to Kilauea from Hanalei. The new family unit continued to gel on the North Shore and with Covid behind them, travels could commence again.

On a dream trip to Europe, including Norway, Italy, and France, Jack proposed to Lorrie on a cliffside overlook at Reinebringen before the family kayaked in fjords under the midnight sun. The couple began celebrating at Lake Como before coming home to engagement parties on Kauai and Oahu and in the Bay Area.

As the girls grew, the whole family decided as a group that the best next move for everyone would be to the Bay Area. The girls were excited to try a new area with bigger schools and more opportunities closer to a city. They landed in Tiburon, CA after falling in love with the Mediterranean feel and stunning views. One of their favorite parts of their view is of the Old St. Hillary Church lit up at night. They quickly felt inspired to plan their wedding in this charming church and share their new beautiful town with their closest friends and family. They can’t wait to welcome you all to their new hometown.
