<p>It all started nearly 8 years ago, oh how time flies by. What started as her freshman year of band class quickly lead to a committed relationship with her soulmate, starting their life together and creating amazing memories. Jackelyn was a 15 year old girl with no prior experiences of relational love. She had been in band playing the flute for the past 3 years and it was now time to start high school. Zac was a 16 year old boy that just moved from his small hometown in McComb, Ohio, he was in choir since 5th grade, he was also in band as a percussionist. Zac moved to Jackelyn’s hometown in Angola, Indiana. The two didn’t know each other-until the Lagrange Corn School parade in 2016. Zac was the last one to board the bus as they headed towards the parade. He had the biggest of the 4 bass drums in the band- so big it required its own seat. All of the seats in the bus were now full, with each seat having 2 to 3 people. Jackelyn was the only one with an open spot next to her. Zac asked if it was alright is he sat with her and she shying replied “yeah”. The two had a memorable first conversation on the topic of music. Zac lended one of his wired earbuds for Jackelyn to listen along. “Do you know this song?” Zac asked-“No I don’t, who sings it, what’s it called?” Jackelyn replied. These two questions repeated themselves for the entirety of the 30 minutes bus ride- and Zac being shocked that she didn’t haven’t a good taste in music. The parade went well but Jackelyn was ready for the ride home, she hoped to talk with Zac again. There were empty spots on the bus ride home from some of the students riding home with their parents. This made Jackelyn think that they wouldn’t talk, but Zac sat on the seat right across from her. They exchanged small talk but nothing like the bus ride there. After this day Jackelyn couldn’t stop thinking about him. She knew that this experience might’ve started a “crush”. The following school year they saw each other just about everyday during first period band. They were starting their marching season. She talked to her best friend about Zac and the night of the parade. Jackelyn continued to say "Hi" or "Good morning" to Zac but he didn’t seem to eager to talk. A couple months passed and Zac noticed Jackelyn might be taking a liking to him. Zac then held a choir/band get together over at his house. Somehow they had each other’s numbers, so he invited her to come over for the occasion and she accepted the offer. Zac and his brother were playing pool at this party. Others were playing corn hole, chatting or eating from the food table. Jackelyn started talking to a woman, who she later found out to be Zac’s mom. As the marching season passed, Zac got smuggled into a small 4 people friend group that included Jackelyn. It’s around this time that Zac found out that Jackelyn had a crush on him. Then came the month of November and they were going to perform at the Lucas Oil Stadium. The small friend group were hanging out after the performance where Zac had made it known that he was not interested in a relationship at the moment, considering that when he moved to Angola, he had just gotten out of a past five year relationship. Jackelyn was definitely hurt at the news but she understood. After finding out Jackelyn actually liked him, Zac couldn’t get her off his mind. Two days later on November 6th 2017, right before bed, her phone started ringing—it was a call from Zac. Jackelyn’s heart leapt with excitement, mixed with a wave of nerves. She took a deep breath to calm herself then answered. The conversation was brief—only a minute or two—but those two minutes changed her life. “Hey... I was wondering if you’d like to go out with me?” Zac asked. Excitement flooded her heart as she smiled and replied, “Yes, I’d love to.” As soon as the call ended, she raced next door to her brother’s room, bursting with joy. She couldn’t believe it—her longtime crush actually liked her back, and had just asked her out. Three years into their relationship, Zac had another important question—one even bigger than the first. He asked Jackelyn’s father for permission to propose. She’s the oldest and only daughter in her family, so Zac knew how meaningful that blessing would be. When he finally asked her, she had never felt more sure—or more excited—to say “Yes!” From late-night band competitions to dreaming up their future together, their journey has been full of laughter, love, and unforgettable memories. And now, eight years later, they’re finally getting married!</p>
