Our story began when we met in December of 2016 through our friends who had just started talking (shoutout to Marc and Amanda). Jackie was invited to a party at one of Amanda’s boyfriends friends house. To Jackies surprise, she quickly discovered that this party was simply a handful of Anthonys friends playing drinking games in a basement and that the night would change both of their lives forever. Jackie noticed Anthony wearing a Boston College Hockey sweatshirt and used this to strike up our first conversation about their first known common love, ice hockey. Unfortunately, coming from rival households of Rangers and Islanders fans has provided some playful banter and the ever difficult decision of which team our children will get the pleasure of rooting for.
We exchanged pleasantries via text for some months and when Anthony returned back to school for his final semester, Jackie kindly paid Boston a couple visits to come watch him play hockey. Although Anthonys cryptic signals and hesitancy may have been perceived as disinterest, he knew she was beyond special. He was unsure of what his future held following graduation and regretfully let that fear and nervousness delay the start of their intimate relationship. Alas, after 7 months Anthony finally asked Jackie to be his girlfriend and her response of how about we think about this for a few weeks first? was certainly a figurative kick to the crotch. Let it be known that 2 weeks prior to Anthony asking Jackie to be his girlfriend that Anthony had a talk with Jackie about how he was uncertain of what the future held for himself and did not want to begin a serious relationship without having certainty of his future. With this in mind, Jackie was taken by surprise when just 2 weeks after that conversation Anthony asked her to be his girlfriend so, naturally, she panicked and declined.
However, Have no fear! 2 days later while Jackie was at a concert with her friends, she decided to text Anthony and accept his offer. (They figured best to split the difference and celebrate their anniversary on the day in between this ordeal)
What the next few years held was far too much time away from one another. Jackie was home finishing her degree and Anthony was heading to Washington D.C to complete his. The challenge seemed abrupt and strenuous, but if anyone could handle it, these two could. What seemed like forever finally passed and Jackie and Anthony were reunited back on Long Island. Following graduation, Jackie began her work and Anthony began Medical School in Manhattan. Although the difficulty in living in separate states had ended, the arduous task of finding time to spend together remained. We both were busy with respective professional and academic responsibilities, but the future was bright and we had forever together to look forward too. We were able to continue with hobbies such as traveling to Pennsylvania and Hampton Bays, attending NHL games and much more.
But throughout it all we made it work and proved that our love is limitless and shows no bounds. At times we were many miles from one another, but the strength of our relationship and support for one another only continued to grow. During his third year of medical school, Anthony was scheduled to do his rotations for the year at Stony Brook Southampton Hospital. Jackie continued to be Anthonys sugar momma as she worked 2 jobs and began a full time Masters degree in Childhood and Early Childhood Education at Fordham University. Anthony thought he had it all planned out perfectly, in September of 2021 he decided to propose to Jackie in a location near and dear to both of their hearts, but Jackie hates surprises and loves to make such tasks as difficult as possible. On 9/25/21 we finally got engaged, despite having to stop for pies at Briermere Farms. Since that magical day Jackie and Anthony have finally (yes finally!) come to the tail ends of their graduate degrees. This May, Jackie will complete her Masters Degree and Anthony will prepare for residency. Wherever the near future may take us, we will be beyond happy to finally be living together with the company of our crazy fur child and companion, Tuna.
