Our love story

Hi friends and family!

Greg and I have been together for 8yrs going on 9. We first met when we were both 21 near my hometown in South Padre Island, Texas during our university’s spring break week off Feb-March 2012. We've known each other for over 10yrs now! He was traveling with a friend to the popular south by southwest music and film festival, but they arrived a few days before and decided to drive down to check out South Padre Island. It is a very popular destination where Texas college students gather to decompress and party. I happened to be out and about with some girl friends at our local beach party bar Louies backyard when I happened to interlock eyes and exchange a smile with Greg for literally 5 seconds or so it seemed. Didn’t think much about it until he walked up to me moments later and asked if I wanted to dance. I said sure and the next couple of minutes we managed to exchange phone numbers, Facebook and a quick kiss lol. Immediately after my girl friends wanted to go home so I left and all I remember was Greg asking if we could hang out later, but we could't make it happen. Flash forward almost 2 years we kept in touch via Facebook and we each graduated university (Greg a year sooner which allowed him to travel across South America). As soon as I graduated I knew I wanted to start traveling the world so I went around Europe for a month March-April 2014. Greg saw one of my posts on Facebook pre-trip and messaged me saying he was going somewhere in Europe and that we should try to meet up. We tried to meet up several times early on in the trip, but it just wasn’t working out until we both happened to be in Germany at the same time. I told him I wanted to go to Berlin and he said his high school friend lived there and we could stay with him! Was an easy choice to meet up with him with free accommodation&nbsp;traveling on a budget at the time. I was supposed to stay for 4 days and meet up with other college friends in Croatia, but needless to say we feel in love and ended up traveling to 17 countries together that summer. Flash forward to present day and we’ve gone to 40+ countries together. We love adventure and seek it on a daily basis. We are very versatile and love everything from hiking, backpacking, skiing, surfing, golfing, kayaking, you name it we’re down for the adventure!

Recommend looking at the forecast in forks/la push a week before travels to prepare with time. Bring an umbrella, rain jacket, waterproof everything, down jacket, warm clothing and comfortable shoes (hiking boots/sports shoes recommended for other activities). Meanwhile I am recommending beach semi-formal attire, please keep in mind of the different terrain (rocks, sand, grass) when choosing which shoes to wear.

Preparing for the weekend

La Push is considered a remote location. There is only one small grocery store in the town (lonesome creek grocery- only sell essentials). There is another grocery store in Forks 15mins away (Forks Outfitters Thriftway and Ace Hardware-normal size grocery store). I would recommend buying groceries in Seattle (QFC, Safeway, Costco) or Port Angeles (Safeway or Walmart) for the weekend as we will only be providing food for the ceremony. Each cabin/a-frame/motel room have a kitchen for preparing food. There is only one restaurant in La Push - River's Edge Restaurant, and a couple in Forks- Check google maps for restaurants. *THERE IS CELL RECEPTION IN FORKS*(if you have walkie talkies bring them)

Everything is within a 2-5min walking distance and you can reach the ceremony area via any walking path. If you prefer to drive, there is additional parking in the overflow parking circled in yellow and behind lonesome creek grocery store. Follow the highlighted yellow pathway to access beach for the ceremony if driving.

Transportation

A car rental is necessary if you do not live in Seattle. La Push is approximately 3hr45min away from Seattle by taking the Bainbridge ferry from downtown Seattle. If you chose not to take the ferry, it is 4hrs from Seattle driving South through Olympia. If you are North of Seattle, you can chose to take the Edmonds to Kingston ferry which is around 3.5hrs. If you are driving from Canada you can take the Coupeville to Port Townsend ferry. Coquitlam, B.C. to La Push is approximately 5hrs40mins including ferry crossing (check border wait times)

The Quileute (kwil-yoot) Nation invites you to share in the bounty of their land, and explore their rich history and vibrant culture–a culture which still thrives here in their daily lives.&nbsp;Experience the tranquility and natural beauty of the rugged coastline of the mighty Pacific Ocean. There are no phones or televisions provided in any of the units. Most cell phones have minimal service&nbsp;in La Push; the&nbsp;largest local service provider is Verizon, and their network has the strongest signal in this area and currently provides 4G coverage in La Push. A fire permit is required for all beach fires.&nbsp;These permits can be obtained in the Resort Office. Fires are permitted only on the beach;&nbsp;no fires are allowed on Resort property, even with a fire permit. No daily housekeeping.&nbsp;If you require fresh linens, you can exchange your soiled ones between&nbsp;9:00am&nbsp;and&nbsp;5:00pm&nbsp;in the Laundry Room located next to the Office. CHECK-IN:&nbsp;4:00PMCHECK-OUT:&nbsp;11:00AM﻿ Charges will be applied for late check-out per hour until 1:00pm - call or visit office to ask cost for additional hours. After this, an additional day’s rental fee will be applied. There is a&nbsp;$50&nbsp;fee&nbsp;for cancellations or any other changes made to the reservation. If you will be arriving after 8:00pm, please call the after-hours number toll free at&nbsp;888-346-6909 to dispatch Security, who will be happy to assist. Keep in mind there is no reception unless you have Verizon do plan accordingly.

This accommodation is 15mins from the Quileute Oceanside Resort. Available lodging options include rustic cabins, canvas glamping tents, and an&nbsp;exclusive group camping site at our Bogie Bottom location. The Mossquatch Resort property features covered outdoor cooking and eating areas, onsite showers and restrooms, guest only walking trails, a play area, and a private, peaceful creek.&nbsp; *Please note that cell phone service may be limited at the resort.*

There are motels in Forks, Washington only 15 mins from the Quileute Oceanside Resort. Campsites for camping are still available at the Quileute Oceanside Resort.

The reception including a cocktail hour and buffet style dinner will be held at the grassy area in front of the thunderbird and whale motel, next to resort office. See photo below for directions. The afterparty will be held at cabins 25-28. Wear warm clothing as we may venture to the beach to stargaze and play louder music as quiet hours begin at 11pm.
