The story of how we met varies, depending on who you talk to.

If you ask Dan, we met accidentally when Jackie asked to borrow his pen at the bank.

If you ask Jackie, they met on Tinder.

Since we met during the Covid shutdown, we planned on a picnic at Boulevard Park. But, in true Pacific Northwest fashion, it rained. A lot. Undeterred, Dan put together a lovely car picnic, and we had a wonderful night. He juggled in the rain, she tried to steal his car (as a joke), and despite both of those things they agreed to a second date.

Jackie had a rare Sunday off, and Dan planned on making the most of it. He chartered a boat to Cypress Island, one of his favorite kayaking destinations. From the drop off point, they hiked up to Eagle Cliff, where Dan got down on one knee and asked Jackie to marry him. After questioning his sanity for a moment, she eagerly said yes. He pulled a bottle of champagne and glasses out of his bag, and they celebrated, before quickly hiking back down to catch the boat. The crewmembers were all in on it, and high fives were had all around.
