Our Wedding

In the summer of 2023, both Jaclyn and John were living in the Bloomington-Normal, IL area. Jaclyn was getting ready to enter her final semester of graduate school at Illinois State University, and John was working at State Farm. One day while visiting a friend who lived in the same apartment complex as Jaclyn, John drove past her place and waved at Jaclyn as she was getting into her car. She returned the wave with a friendly smile; John noted this and felt the urge to ask her out!A few weeks later, on July 5th, John was hanging out with his friends who lived near Jaclyn while waiting for his tires to be replaced on his car. He decided to walk over to her apartment and knock on Jaclyn’s door! She happened to be home, and willingly opened the door for a handsome stranger! Within that brief encounter, right away they found much in common; they love Jesus, ran college track, and were from the Chicago suburbs. The first date took place the next day over beers at Lil Beaver brewery in Bloomington IL.The summer continued, and though Jaclyn played hard to get, John wowed her with his sand volleyball playing skills at Gill St. Sports Bar and Restaurant, and asked her out on a second date, on which they almost did not get around to ordering food because they had not even looked at the menu; they were too into the conversation!Jaclyn and John quickly became each other’s best friend—sharing a love for running, boating, hiking, exploring, praying, and simply being together. Most importantly, their faith in Jesus Christ grew stronger side by side! They have seen God pour out blessings, peace, grace, and mercy over every step of their journey, guiding them with a love far greater than their own!This year, both Jaclyn and John followed God’s call to move to Knoxville, each settling into their own new apartments and routines, but grateful to explore Tennessee together! John is now working as an EMT, as well as for BUSAR, a search and rescue team in the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Jaclyn teaches middle school Spanish at Saint John Neumann Catholic School. They feel incredibly blessed in this new season and cannot wait to welcome their friends and family to Tennessee to celebrate with them!If you read this far, please pray a Rosary for us! :)

Please make your reservations by Monday, April 13, 2026 to receive the group rate. Reservations made after this date will be subject to prevailing rates and availability. Reservations may also be made by calling 1-800-325-0720 and referring to our group number 10173132. We have the hotel block for Thursday to Sunday. Feel free to stay for 1, 2 or 3 nights at the discounted rate! The Drury Inn &amp; Suites is located just a short, easy drive from both the church and our reception venue. Hotel guests can enjoy complimentary breakfast, evening drinks and snacks, Wi-Fi, and convenient on-site amenities including a fitness center, pool, and business center. How do I RSVP?

Our RSVP form may look a little detailed — this was the best way we could set it up through The Knot! One person can RSVP for their entire party or family. Just type your first and last name and you will see your party. We simply need to know how many seats your group will require. That includes letting us know if someone needs a high chair instead of a standard chair, or if a little one won’t need a seat at all. You may see a few specific seating questions — feel free to skip anything that’s already been answered. We promise we’re not trying to make it complicated! Our venue requires an exact number of chairs in advance so we can plan accordingly. If you’re unsure about anything, please call or text one of us. We’re happy to help! Thank you so much for taking the time to fill it out carefully. We truly appreciate it!

What should I wear?

We kindly request that guests wear semi-formal attire in shades of blue to complement our wedding colors! For men, semi-formal usually includes a dress shirt and dress pants, possibly with a suit jacket or blazer. Women can typically wear a variety of dresses!

Can I bring a plus-one or my children?

When you're ready to RSVP online, it should specify if we expect you to bring a guest. ALL children and babies are welcome! The more the merrier! We will have high chairs available during the reception. Let us know if your child's name or your plus-one isn't explicitly listed on the RSVP; we don't want to leave anyone out of our day!

Where should I stay?

Thank you so much for traveling to Tennessee! We have provided a hotel block for the wedding weekend at the Drury Inn &amp; Suites in Knoxville. More details, along with the booking link, are listed under the travel tab! Also—if you’re thinking about extending your stay, the Smoky Mountains are only about an hour away (depending on where you go), so feel free to make a little trip out of it! Let us know if you have any questions or need recommendations.

What time should I arrive?

The Mass will begin at 1:00 pm. To avoid being late and to find a seat in the church, we recommend arriving by 12:30 pm!

What is the Celebration of the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony?

Our wedding will take place within a Catholic Mass, which is a beautiful and sacred celebration of our commitment to one another. During the ceremony, you’ll see moments like the procession, readings from Scripture, a homily from the priest, the exchange of vows and rings, and prayers for our new marriage. The Mass also includes the Liturgy of the Eucharist, which is the heart of Catholic worship!

What if I'm not Catholic?

You are absolutely welcome! We are blessed to have friends and family from many religious backgrounds, and we’re so grateful you’re celebrating with us. You do not need to be Catholic to attend, participate in the prayers, or enjoy the beauty of the ceremony. If you’re unsure what to do during certain parts of the Mass—standing, sitting, kneeling—feel free to simply follow along or stay seated if that’s most comfortable. During Communion, those who are not receiving the Eucharist are welcome to remain in their seats or come forward with arms crossed for a blessing. Most of all, please know your presence means the world to us!

Can I take photos?

We kindly ask that all phones be silenced and put away during the Mass in reverence to the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony. We’ve hired an amazing photographer who will be capturing every moment beautifully—so no need for photos during this time. Feel free to take as many photos and videos as you’d like throughout cocktail hour and the reception!
