Just before the world would change, Jackie and Andrew both happened to download a dating app—neither expecting much. Jackie was a elementary teacher, and Andrew, an Human Resources employee. They matched on a cold night and struck up a conversation that immediately felt easy—effortless, even.
Their first date was in Orangeburg, New York where Andrew picked up Jackie after a long day of classes at Dominican College. It was love at first sight. They had dinner at Cassie's, walks along the pier in Piermont, followed by ice cream and playful fun at a local park. If only the night could go on forever...
Through Zoom movie nights, socially distanced walks, and countless shared memes, they got to know each other in the most unexpected of circumstances. Quarantine sped things up in a weird, wonderful way—helping them build something real based on conversation, shared values, and a lot of laughter. Due to New York being in a State of Emergency for months, Jackie and Andrew did not get to see each other in person until June 27, 2020 where Andrew nervously asked Jackie to be his girlfriend.
It was supposed to be just another fun day at Disney Springs—shopping, snacks, and soaking in the magic like they always do. They been to Disney a few times together, and it had quickly become “their place”—a mix of nostalgia, happiness, and just the right amount of fairy dust. That evening, they wandered through the twinkling lights, had dinner at their favorite romantic restaurant, listening to live music, with no real agenda (or so one of us thought ;). As they walked onto the bridge near the water, Andrew suggested they stop for a photo. Nothing unusual… until she realized he was down on one knee. It was magical, meaningful, and unforgettable—exactly the kind of moment Disney is known for. Now, Disney Springs isn’t just a fun date spot anymore.
