We met at a Halloween Party in 2017 during Patty’s first quarter at Cal Poly San Luis Obispo. Jacob had seen a photo of Patty through a friend and was struck by her beauty, he knew he had to meet her. He managed to channel the energy of his Halloween costume - "The Most Interesting Man in the World" from the Dos Equis commercials - and introduced himself. They hit it off, the spark was ignited.
At the time, Jacob was in the middle of a 6 month leave from school to work an internship in Ventura, CA. The very next weekend, and every weekend until he started school back up in January, Jacob drove up to San Luis Obispo to take Patty out and add kindling to the flame. Upon moving back to San Luis Obispo to finish his degree, they were rarely apart, their love prospering into an incredible relationship.
After graduation, long distance and the pandemic added trying elements to our relationship. This brought a unique challenge, giving us the opportunity to truly understood how meaningful and powerful our love was.
Though our relationship started at a time when we were just two kids getting through school and starting our careers, the past 7 years have allowed us to form our relationship into the beginnings of a beautiful marriage.
Patty and Jacob took a vacation to British Columbia, Canada to "spend credit card points before they expired". If you know Patty, you know that curiosity is one of her strengths, so this reasoning and the location were all part of the plan to make the engagement a surprise for her. On 10/24/23, almost 6 years to the day that they met, Jacob proposed to Patty at Hatley Castle in Victoria, British Columbia. Patty is a princess at heart, so it was fitting to propose to her in front of a castle.
After the proposal, Patty's family surprised us with a beautiful engagement party with family, friends, and loved ones in attendance. Celebrating this milestone with the ones who make us, us filled our hearts and capped off an incredible engagement celebration.
