This weekend was a truly amazing and truly blessed one...

Last year, I was able to attend the meeting at Providence Primitive Baptist Church in Stringer, MS. I was able to travel with 4 other brethren and worship our Lord with the saints and experience the power and might of His spirit through the worship service that was held there.

During this meeting, I was blessed to meet a beautiful young lady whom I had never seen, talk with her for a brief period of time, then leave the meeting having no way to talk to her or no idea if I would see her again.

In April of 2024, I was blessed to be able to move to Texas where I stayed with my dear friends (I consider them my family) for a few days. I soon moved into my apartment and was able to attend a meeting at Little Vine Primitive Baptist Church in Austin, TX and a communion meeting at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church in McMahan, TX, which is where my membership is now at. All the while, I still have no idea if I will ever see this girl I met at Providence.

I soon found out that there would be a meeting in in June in Littlefield, TX where Elder Luke L. Laird was the invited minister. I devised up a plan to get to that meeting and make it aware to Brother Luke that I was interested in Hannah, whom I met at Providence. I made it to the meeting and made my petition to Brother Luke. He got a fire in his eyes and started telling me all about her and how sweet she was and how sweet her family was. He then told me that the next time I would probably be able to see her would be at the Amite Association meeting in Brookhaven, MS in October of 2024.

We headed back home from that meeting and I was excited. I was blessed to be a part of the Camp Meeting where I was able to help host at Bethel Primitive Baptist Church. I soon met someone in my home of Bastrop, TX but it did not last very long. The feeling that I needed to meet Hannah still pulled at my thoughts from the time I spoke with Brother Luke all the way up to the Amite Association meeting.

I was blessed to be able to ride to the Amite Association meeting with Brother Jeb Owen (Uncle Jeb), and attend the services there Thursday night. Then came Friday... Friday was the day I was going to see Hannah again... I was nervous... A little scared... A little shy... I couldn’t do it on my own so Brother Luke offered to sit down with me during the lunch hour that day. I ended up sitting next to Hannah and never moved from that seat beside her for the remainder of the services.

We exchanged phone numbers and the fire took off after that wonderfully blessed meeting.

We talked everyday, and I soon proposed the idea of spending Thanksgiving together. On an impulse decision, I booked a rental car for Wednesday evening of Thanksgiving week and I picked it up and drove all night to Alabama to spend Thanksgiving weekend with her and her family. We had such an incredible weekend together that I was already planning the next time I would be able to see her.

For Christmas, I was able to go back to GA to spend time with my family and see my friends. It was a great trip and I soon packed up my rental car with deer heads, snake mounts, and other things such as those and took off for Alabama. I was blessed to be able to attend an ordination service for two brethren to the office of deacon. This is where I met up with her and her family, and again, sat right beside her the entire time.

We soon took off for Mississippi after the services were over. Brother Luke and Sister Jessica Laird in one car, Brother Connery and Sister Paula in their car, and Hannah and I in my rental. We spent an amazing time talking and jamming out to music and enjoying each others company. We made it all the way to Meridian, MS where we ended up trapped by an impending tornado.

We all made it safely through the night at a hotel in Meridian and we were able to drive to Brandon, MS to attend the worship service that Sunday. I left soon after the worship service for Texas and thats when I began devising a plan for how I was going to ask this amazing girl to be my wife.

I was able to talk to Brother Connery and we planned a time where we could meet in Louisiana to have dinner and talk. We met in Louisiana without Hannah realizing what we were doing and I asked him for her hand. He very graciously approved.

I headed back home after that with Brother Connery’s approval and a plan to her to be my wife.

Not too much more time passed and I was blessed to be able to attend the services at Providence Primitive Baptist Church again. Thursday night was spent with John Mark Quarles, Nathanael Salter, and Silas Huckaby. We spent some time eating some amazing steaks, talking scriptures, and having some rich fellowship around a fire. We developed a plan for me to ask Hannah around the fire. John Mark and I left early that morning to go check out a park and we quickly found the spot where it was going to take place.

The morning and afternoon services were so incredibly blessed. As soon as the afternoon service concluded, John Mark, Nathanael, and Silas took off for the park. Brother Connery, Sister Paula, and an unsuspecting Hannah left out soon after just to go ride around and look at Laurel.

We made it to the park and got started on our walk. We got to the spot and I struggled to pull the ring out of my coat pocket, but was soon able too and I hit my knee. I gave her a candid proposal speech that I had been concocting in my head all day and she said YES!

I am so thankful to have Hannah in my life and am so very blessed to be able to spend the rest of my life with such an amazing woman! The Lord has truly blessed me and I am so grateful! I cannot wait to spend the rest of my life with her. All the tornados, all the road trips, all the meetings, all the Thanksgivings, and all the seconds. It is going to be amazing! I cannot wait for June 28th!
