Jacob and Chelsea first met playing pickup volleyball at Sandbar in spring of 2024 - a place where people go for fun, competition, and apparently, to meet their future spouse.Chelsea noticed Jacob right away and had a feeling she should talk to him. At the same time, Jacob had spotted a new face in the group and figured he should go say hi. As Chelsea stood there debating what to do, Jacob made the first move.Their first exchange set the tone:Jacob (pointing at her hoodie): “Are you from Iowa?”Chelsea: “No, my aunt just got me this.”Jacob: “Cool.”Yes, that was the opening line, and yes, somehow it still worked out.They kept seeing each other at volleyball and slowly started talking more, quickly bonding over their shared love of dogs and the sport that brought them together. Chelsea appreciated how easy Jacob was to talk to, and Jacob found himself hoping she’d be there each week. Between conversations on the sidelines and stories about their pups - especially Jacob’s Bernese Mountain Dog, Bjorn - it wasn’t long before they started finding reasons to spend time together outside of volleyball.They realized their favorite spots in Germantown were right across the street from each other: Mother’s Ruin for Jacob (team brunch) and Neighborlily for Chelsea (team coffee). After talking about getting coffee at Neighborlily and letting a couple of days pass without setting a date, Jacob decided to take initiative and planned a morning coffee date himself.That “quick” coffee before work turned out to be anything but quick. They both left wishing they had more time - so they planned a second date for later that evening. Dinner and drinks at Urban Cowboy lasted over four hours, full of easy conversation and a lot of laughing. They only left because the place was closing, and the night ended with a first kiss in the parking lot neither of them will ever forget. Chelsea went home and told her roommate she thought she had just met the man she would marry. Jacob went home smiling and asked her out again the next day. (Both were on the right track.)After that, they were pretty much inseparable. During Jacob’s work trips, he sent Chelsea postcards, and she left him little notes in return. They showed up for each other through hard seasons, celebrated the good ones, and filled the in-between with walks, volleyball, travel, and time with friends and family.On September 28, 2025, Jacob proposed during a Sunday picnic in Shelby Park with their favorite sandwiches. He shared what he loves about Chelsea and the life he hopes they’ll build together. Chelsea, overwhelmed in the best way, responded with a heartfelt and very on-brand, “Well yeah!” 💍We’re so grateful for this life together and can’t wait to keep building it with all of you by our side!

There are a lot of options for accommodations in Estes Park. You can book through Airbnb, Vrbo, or at one of the many hotels in the area. We currently have a room block at The Estes Park Resort &amp; Spa; but also have included a few hotels that we were able to see in person that also have high reviews.
