Atlanta is our favorite city by far, simply because it has it all. Our diverse city has great weather, plenty to do, great restaurants, and lots of history and culture. We've listed just a few of our favorite spots and His & Hers weekend itineraries so that you can make the most of the time you're here. We also give some transportation recommendations at the bottom of this page. Because Atlanta is so large and has so much to explore and the wedding festivities take up so much of the time, to really soak in all that Atlanta has to offer, you'd likely want to stay longer than just the weekend. But if you can't, know that you're always welcome to come back and stay with us, and we'll be sure to give you the royal tour!
We wanted to share the itineraries we would put together if we were visiting the city ourselves. Feel free to use these as your plan, starting point, or throw them out and craft your own with the many activities and restaurants detailed below!

Buckhead is one of Atlanta's most bougie areas with plenty of shops, restaurants, and activities. This area tends to be catered towards shopping, and we would recommend you drive to some of the father activities in Buckhead like the Northside Beltline or Lenox Mall.
Our #1 recommendation to guests is to check out the Atlanta History Center and Swan House before the event. The museum will be open to all guests for free all weekend (just mention our names at the front desk) and has acres of beautiful gardens, many interesting exhibits, and even a cute lunch and coffee spot. We could (and have) spent hours here and our favorite exhibits are the Swan House (of course), the Smith Farm, and the Goizueta Gardens.
Buckhead Village boasts lots of high end stores and restaurants within a nice, walkable area. Located just down the road from the wedding venue, this is a great place to shop around and check out some local restaurants.
The Northside Beltline trail is one of our favorite spots in the city. The apartment Lauren lived in when we first met was just down the road, and she would run here almost every day. The walking trail follows a beautiful creek and curves around a lush golf course. Find free parking in the residential neighborhoods nearby.
If shopping is your thing, Lenox Mall is one of the best places to shop in the city. It has a wide range of stores and restaurants. It does tend to get crowded though, and finding parking can be a struggle.
Souper Jenny is located right inside the Atlanta History Museum and is one of our favorite lunch spots! We eat here every time we go to the museum.
The Velvet Taco is a cute, upscale taco joint located right down the road from the venue.
Flower Child is a cute healthy lunch spot. We love going there to get something fresh after a long day of shopping.
Jeni's Ice Creams has several locations around Atlanta, but fortunate for you, there is one right next to the venue! Jeni's has inventive flavors and some great dairy free options and is a favorite of ours.
Midtown is our favorite part of Atlanta! Both of us lived here for years and this area includes the location of our first date (and engagment), first kiss, and many more. There is so much to do and so much great food!
Piedmont Park has sprawling green areas, a beautiful pond, and several breweries. We love walking through the park, exploring the nature gardens, and taking our dog to the large dog park.
The High Museum has some of the coolest art and is one of our favorite places to go for date nights or fun activities. Some of our favorite pieces include Kehinde Wiley's portraits, Anish Kapoor's Untitled dome, and Giovanni Maria Benzoni's The Veiled Rebekah.
The Atlanta Botanical Gardens is one of our favorite places to walk with beautiful foliage, florals, and natural sculptures. Located just off Piedmont Park, it's a prime location to continue your exploration of Midtown. You do have to pay to park here, so you may want to get free parking around Piedmont Park and walk over.
We go to the Green Market at Piedmont Park all the time. It is located by the Dockside and Willy's Mexican Grill and is open on Saturdays from 9am - 1pm. Our recommendations are Blue Donkey Coffee, Just Add Honey Tea, and Noble Fungi.
The Beltline is located just off Piedmont Park and is a great place to walk or bike around. Along the path there are some great stops like Newrealm Brewery and Ponce City Market. If you walk long enough, you'll reach Krog Street Market, another great spot.
Ponce City Market is a great spot for lunch or shopping. It also has a rooftop bar and games area for additional activities. Our favorite restaurants in Ponce are Bellina Alimentari for Italian food, H&F Burger for American food, and LaRayia's Bodega for dessert. Be warned, it can get crowded.
Located in Piedmont Park, Orpheus Brewing is where we had our first date and engagement party. There's a great selection of beers, and you can grab something and walk around the park.
Mary Mac's Tea Room is classic southern food, If you're looking for quintessential Atlanta - this is it. And it's delicious!
Blue India is Jacob's favorite Indian food in Atlanta. It's located right off Peachtree street and is walking distance from Piedmont Park.
Anh's Kitchen has great Vietnamese food and is one of Jacob's favorite restaurants. When Jacob and Lauren met, Jacob used to live right off of 10th street and they would walk down to the many restaurants on Peachtree, including Anh's Kitchen.
West Midtown is where both of us went to college and lived for many years. It is an up and coming area with lots of new restaurants, bars, and fun things to do. This area of town has some of our all time favorite food in Atlanta.
Westside Provisions is a great place to grab drinks, a bite to eat, shop, and walk around. The walking bridge over the railroad tracks connecting the two sections of the district is a great spot for pictures, and the food around the area is amazing.
Atlantic Station is an outdoor shopping and dining area in West Midtown. It's a great place to shop, and they frequently have activities on their lawn. Lauren used to run around here as she lived in an apartment complex not far away. Parking is also free!
Check out where it all began. Hang out on Tech Green and grab a bite to eat at the Student Center before walking through the College of Computing (CoC), where both Jacob and Lauren spent countless hours studying.
Wagaya is Lauren's favorite restaurant in Atlanta and she used to walk over and get ramen to go when she lived just down the street in Home Park. Get the dinner plate with the White Tonkotsu Ramen - you'll thank us later.
Located on the upper Westside, Hankook is a Korean-Mexican fusion restaurant. We'll make the trek from our house on the other side of the city just for the sesame fries. Even though it looks like a hole in the wall, it truly has the best food.
Monday Night Brewing is one of our favorite breweries in Atlanta and has some Atlanta classic beers. It has a really cute outdoor area and often hosts food trucks for a quick bite.
This Italian pizza place is located just north of Georgia Tech's campus and has some of the best pizza. There's also a cute gelato shop right next door.
While technically in Midtown, the Centennial Olympic Park area has so many activities packed so close to each other that it needed its own section! This is a great spot to take Marta to and plan a substantial visit, hitting some of Atlantas greatest hits (and some of our favorite spots).
Centennial Olympic Park is one of the coolest spots because it is right next to so many fun attractions. There's the ferris wheel, the Georgia Aquarium, the World of Coke, the College Football Hall of Fame, and more all within a couple blocks.
The Georgia Aquarium is one of the coolest attractions in Atlanta. The underwater tunnel, penguins, and giant tanks are some of our favorite attractions.
This is one of Lauren's favorite museums in Atlanta. The Center for Civil and Human Rights is a great way to explore the Civil Rights movement and the role of the Southeast, particularly Atlanta, in it. It also has a giant mural by one of Lauren's favorite designers, Paula Scher.
The World of Coke is exactly what it sounds like and is one of the sugariest attractions in the city. If you're into soda and Atlanta History, this one is for you. It is also located right next to the Georgia Aquarium and Center for Civil and Human Rights.
The Sun Dial is an upscale restaurant at the top of the Westin hotel. This restaurant and bar used to turn 360 degrees, but is now stationary. It does, however, still have the amazing 360 view of the city.
Explore one of our favorite areas of Atlanta! Named after the Inman family, the original owners of the Swan House (the wedding venue in case you forgot), Inman Park is a lively and fun neighborhood with lots of historic sites and great food. It's also accessible by the Eastside Beltline, if you want to bike or walk there from Midtown.
We love Krog Street Market! This cute market has several adorable shops and some great restaurants. We recommend Jeni's Ice Cream and Gu's Dumplings.
Martin Luther King Jr. National Historic Park is an amazing place to see some of the key monuments from Martin Luther King Jr.'s life, including Ebenezer Baptist Church, his childhood home, and his gravesite.
The Jimmy Carter Center and Presidential Library is a museum dedicated to Jimmy Carter, the only President from Georgia. With beautiful grounds and plenty of interesting exhibits, this is a great place to get some Georgia history.
Victory Sandwich Bar is one of Jacob and Lauren's favorite restaurants. They go to the Decatur location all the time, but the one in Inman Park was where Lauren first fell in love with their great sandwiches.
Lauren had a friend whose brother worked at Bread & Butterfly at one point, so they would go over to the restaurant all the time. They've since moved on, but Lauren's love for the food and drinks stayed.
Barcelona Wine Bar is a cute Spanish tapas restaurant located in the heart of Inman Park.
If you're interested in what our regular activities look like, pop in to Brookhaven over by our house. We live off of Buford Highway, which boasts some of the best food in the city. It's a slower paced area with lots of cute (and dog friendly) restaurants.
Downtown Brookhaven is a great spot for food, walking, and light shopping. Located right by our house, we spend a ton of time here.
The Brookhaven Farmers Market is a favorite of Jacob, Lauren, and especially Sashi. It takes place on Saturdays from 9am - 12pm and is a great place to walk around and grab a delicious pastry, coffee, and dog treat.
The Peachtree Creek Greenway is a great trail right by our house. Most importantly, it's decently flat for such a hilly area, so it's a great place to run.
La Pastorcita is our favorite Mexican restaurant in Atlanta. The food there is super authentic and delicious, and we order in regularly. It looks like a hole in the wall, but we promise it's delicious.
Food Terminal is a great ramen bar and has an awesome atmosphere. They have a large menu and really good food. They even have a little robot that brings your food to you and sings!
Sweet Hut has 2 locations - one close to our house off Buford Highway, and one in Midtown. Both are great. We recommend the cream filled "caterpillar" and the Thai Tea Bubble Tea.
Atlanta is a city made for driving. We recommend you either rent a car or Uber and Lyft to and from your destinations as that will likely be your safest, easiest, and fastest way to get around.
Uber and Lyft is by far the easiest, safest, and fastest way to get around town without renting a car by far. Even if you rent a car, we would still recommend you use Uber/Lyft for certain events or areas where you will be drinking or parking will be difficult. Driving in Atlanta is pure chaos, so if you are not used to city driving, this is the best option for you.
There are Lime Scooters and a few Bird Scooters throughout the city. These can be an easy way to get around within neighborhoods, along the Beltline, and around Midtown. The City of Atlanta has cracked down some on Scooter usage due to some injuries, so you cannot ride scooters past 9pm in the city. Please be safe!
There are several MARTA stations throughout Atlanta, but they are really only effective if you're going to Midtown. Even then, the stations are far apart and you will often have to walk a ways from them to reach your destination. They can get you closer and cut down Uber fees though! The closest MARTA station to the venue is the Buckhead MARTA station, but it is a seven minute drive from the hotel. You can easily take MARTA to that station from the airport and then Uber to the hotel. All in all, this isn't our recommended way to travel unless you're heading to the airport.
