On August 6, 2023, Jacob and Lora met at the Strand in Lewisville playing volleyball with Black Rabbit Beach Volleyball. It was Sunday Night Doubles Playoffs, Lora got knocked out with a minor elbow injury, while Jacob made it to the championship game. While the music played and the championship game began, Jacob’s dancing caught Lora’s attention. Lora called out "Get it white boy!" and both looked at each other laughing as Jacob started to serenade Lora as he continued to dance. After the game, Jacob introduced himself and that was just the beginning of our story.

The following Friday, Lora unfortunately tore her hamstring in a slow pitch softball game and was out of commission for 6-8 weeks. Jacob patiently waited until Lora made her big return to The Strand. As Lora walked in on crutches on a Thursday night, Jacob thought “Man, this girl is prone to injury and needs someone to save her”. Jacob sat with Lora while she watched her team compete that night. The two of them shared laughs and started to open up to each other. By the end of the night Jacob asked Lora for her number and asked her on a date for that weekend.

Jacob and Lora’s first date was brunch and a movie. Lora picked the Barbie movie to test Jacob’s interest in her. He drove 45 minutes to Lora’s place and wore a pink button up to match the movie theme with her. Lora was impressed with Jacob driving to her and taking care of her while in a full leg brace and on crutches. Jacob truly was a gentleman and put his best foot forward from the beginning.

Their second date was an Escape Room at Grandscape. Lora did not want to disappoint so she pushed through on crutches and prayed she wouldn't fall on her face. As they completed the Escape Room, Lora was startled by a pop out drawer and thankfully Jacob was behind her to catch her before she hit the ground.

As the dates went on and they got to know each other more, Jacob and Lora fell in love. From unplanned ‘Adventure Challenge’ dates to spending Holiday’s together and becoming volleyball partners, their love grew as they made memories together. They can undoubtedly say the Lord crossed their paths at the perfect time and they are blessed with each day they spend together.

Jacob surprised Lora with a private proposal during a couples photoshoot on October 5th, 2024. Lora was immensely anxious about what to wear even though she was completely unaware of what was about to happen. After a few fun photos and different scenery, Jacob got down on one knee and confessed his love for Lora. Before Lora could say yes, she began to cry like a baby. Jacob continued to ask the biggest question of both of their lives, “Will you marry me?” Lora enthusiastically said yes and the both of them hugged and kissed in happiness and bliss.
