It all started in the summer of 2017 when two 17-year-old lifeguards met at Bow Creek Recreation Center. Jacob was the new guy on the stand with his “Justin Bieber” hair, and Kiara was already part of the team. They became fast friends, and it didn’t take long before they were totally inseparable. Even though they went to different high schools, and later, different colleges (Jacob at ODU, Kiara at William &amp;; Mary); they stuck it out through long-distance calls, weekend visits, and all the ups and downs in between.After graduation, they both moved back home for a bit, worked hard, saved up, and finally moved into their first apartment together in Marion, Virginia, in May 2023. Kiara started attending PA school, and Jacob joined the police academy. That’s where their little family really started to grow. They fostered two kittens, Jess and Logan, and immediately failed as fosters (in the best way) and adopted them. Sadly, Jess passed away in October 2023, but his tiny paw-prints will always be on their hearts. In March 2024, they adopted their sassy little cat Lilly, and by that summer, they upgraded to their first rental home. Then came Hazel, their playful pup, who joined the crew in October 2024 .Finally, they took the next step in June 2025, and became engaged.Today, Jacob and Kiara live in Lynchburg, Virginia, where together they are working hard to build their careers side by side. From lifeguard whistles to wedding bells, these two have been through it all and have grown up together and now they’re diving into forever, side by side.

Sheri is Kiara’s little sister and biggest fan (even if she doesn’t always admit it). With an eight-year age gap, their relationship comes with its fair share of challenges—but also plenty of laughs, late-night talks, and sisterly love that always wins out. Kiara couldn’t imagine saying “I do” without Sheri by her side.

Emma is Kiara’s college bestie who somehow became her Chi Omega “grand little” despite joining two years later. She once thought Kiara was intimidating, but now they’re inseparable and laughing about how sorority family trees make zero sense.

Alicia is Kiara’s college bestie from day one (literally). They bonded freshman year over sweltering dorm rooms without AC and, since they shared the same major, pretty much spent every second of college together.

Fern and Kiara go all the way back to freshman year PE class, where they bonded over surviving the math and science academy. From high school to every big milestone since, they’ve stuck by each other and plan to keep it that way.

Fern Lumsun 

Jane is a year below Kiara in school, but that didn’t stop them from quickly bonding over French class and long bus rides. She’s been by Kiara’s side ever since, through all the years and milestones.

Alisa and Kiara didn’t get close until senior year of high school, but she’s been making Kiara laugh nonstop ever since. She, Kiara, Jane, and Fern still love hanging out together, proving some friendships just get better with time.

Jordan is Jacob’s best friend from high school, partner in countless childhood (and adult) shenanigans. Even with the miles between them now, Jacob can’t imagine his wedding day without him.

Ryan is Jacob’s not so little brother, and the two have been through it all. From roughhousing as kids and stressing their mother out, to moving around as Navy brats, and always having each other’s backs.

Sebastian is Kiara’s little brother, and he keeps Jacob on his toes, sometimes with impromptu “free” tattoos, even in a hotel room in Peru. Jacob is eager to have his “new brother” by his side on the big day.

Ben was Jacob’s partner on the force, and the two even shared rookie of the year honors. Ever since, they’ve been inseparable; chatting constantly (and we mean constantly), whether in separate cop cars or off the clock.

River is Jordan’s adorable little guy, just about two years old, and he’s ready to steal the show as ring security. Cute, playful, and full of energy, he’ll make sure the rings arrive in style.

The Something Blue Crew

Instead of a traditional something blue, we’ve chosen something even better, our Something Blue Crew. These three mean the world to us, and we can’t imagine celebrating without them. Keep an eye out for their special reception entrance… it will be a good one.

Marybeth and Kiara became friends during a math class in their first week of college, quickly bonding over joking about the athletes in the class. Not long after, Marybeth joined Chi Omega, but their friendship stayed strong. Despite the distance now, they still make time to hang out and keep their connection close.

Jacob and Adyn have been friends since their troublemaking days in high school, from jumping into pools off balconies to sharing their deepest, darkest secrets. No matter how much time passes, they always pick right back up where they left off and have each other’s backs.

Adyn Boatright

Katie and Kiara bonded at their first medical assistant job while talking through all of Katie’s wedding planning. They even sneakily set things up for their guys to meet, and it clicked right away. Ever since then, the four of them have been inseparable.
