Our story begins in February of 2022 at a campus ministry called Fruitful at Slippery Rock University. This was honestly such a God moment for each of us, as we are sure that this was no coincidence. At this time, we were both searching deeper in our faith and little did we know, this group would pull us together in such an amazing way.

Not knowing we both liked each other, we spent six months in our friend group and attending Fruitful before our first date. We dated in the fall of 2022 before taking a short break. During this time God refined us each individually and looking back, it was worth what God blessed us with now. In our reconnection, we agreed upon “Burning the Boats” and it’s safe to say we knew in that moment, we were in for the long haul.

Between then (March 2023) and now, we managed to grow spiritually, graduate Slippery Rock together, then navigate long distance while Amelia was studying abroad in Spain doing her master’s program. That was a long ten months, but it worked out so well. After countless facetime calls lasting hours on end, we finally got to reunite in June of 2024 and it feels like Amelia never left.

Did I forget to mention, while Amelia was studying abroad, Jake came to Europe to visit, where WE GOT ENGAGED IN SWITZERLAND!?!? I mean come on, how awesome is that?! We were blessed enough not only to celebrate our engagement, but travel to Spain, France, Switzerland, and Italy. It truly was a once in a lifetime experience that we both are incredibly grateful for.

As we prepare to spend the rest of our lives together we aim to keep God in the center of our marriage. We also pray that our marriage can reflect the relationship between Jesus and His church, which is the main purpose and true intention of marriage.
