3/28 Update: We've had a slight change in plans & have had to relocate our wedding to Burleson, TX. Don't worry, it's the same distance from Fort Worth as the previous venue! We are SO excited to celebrate with you all! Love, Jake & Lizzy
Jake and Lizzy first met through mutual friends in 2020 and casually followed each other on social media and crossed paths on a few occasions. Jake decided to slide into Lizzy’s DMs (Instagram direct messages) about a Dallas Stars game (we were headed to the playoffs). What started as a casual conversation quickly turned into a steady back-and-forth between the two. Jake decided it was time to make his move and ask Lizzy to dinner, and, well... it wasn’t exactly received as he’d hoped. But, true to form, Jake didn’t take no for an answer. He went along with Lizzy’s idea to go to dinner as “just friends” (even though he wasn’t exactly sold on that idea). They kept talking ( a lot for “just friends”), and eventually Jake invited Lizzy over to his new place in Irving on a Saturday to watch a Stars game with him and his roommates Tyler and Richard.
After a few drinks with Erika on Friday night, Lizzy decided there was no way she was going to go over to Jakes house to hangout for the first time with his roommates, without having first hung out before, so she texted Jake asking if he wanted to come over and bake cookies. Jake jumped at the chance, even though baking cookies was such an odd thing to do. What should have been a simple evening of baking turned into a series of mishaps.
First, they made a trip to Walmart for the couple items that Lizzy didn’t have on hand in her apartment. After laughing around the store trying to find the needed items, they returned to Lizzy’s place, only to discover that the salt container had exploded in Jake’s car and his truck was now covered in salt. Jake acted like it was nothing at the time, but Lizzy later found out that he’s pretty particular about his car and this wasn’t as nonchalant as he made it seem (rumor has it there is still salt in the truck to this day – whoops). If you have baked with Lizzy before, you know that she doesn’t follow the directions very well, so the couple had to go back to the store not once… but twice. After getting back to her apartment after the third grocery store run and figuring out they forgot the biggest item of all, the baking sheets, they called in quits on the cookies and decided to sit on the couch and talk over drinks.
From that night on, they were pretty much inseparable.
Fast forward to today: they’ve both started new jobs, moved in together, bought a house in Fort Worth, and added a dachshund named Chili to their existing family of Mozzarella and Winston.
