April 2021 Jacob was touring the Specialty Printing facility during a job interview, deciding where he might be a good fit. He would later admit that seeing Maria in the Digital room was a factor in his choice of department only to find Maria would also admit to making up excuses to come over to his press and talk to him during their shifts. The two worked on 2nd shift together for over a year, troubleshooting jobs, sharing meals on break, and chatting about their board game interests, unknowingly growing closer but always maintaining professionalism.

During the summer of 2022 Jacob made the inevitable switch to 1st shift and, shortly after, Maria found herself as one of the first to be moved to the company's new facility. The distance, however, seemed to make their hearts grow fonder. They began messaging everyday, sharing deeper details about their lives, and beginning to see each other in group settings outside of work. Finally, Jacob mustered up the courage to ask Maria out, to which she replied, "you mean like on a date or forever?". The two enjoyed a home cooked meal prepared by Jacob as he attempted to teach Maria his favorite game, Magic the Gathering (still a work in progress), but she persevered through, desiring to share in his interests. Not long after, Jacob showed the same openness when Maria introduced him to the Catholic faith, to which he officially converted at their St. Michael's Parish on Easter day 2025.

Though they had some different interests to start, they found they enjoyed every activity so long as they were working at it together. One of their most anticipated events is their annual trip to Jacob's family's New Hampshire summer home on Ganzy Island in Lake Winnipesaukee . It was there that Jacob proposed under a cascading waterfall on an excursion up to the breathtaking sights of the Castle in the Clouds; a day they will treasure in their memories forever and the source of inspiration for their woodland themed "Evergreen" wedding.
