Jacob pursued the relationship first. I remember him texting me on a Wednesday when I was teaching kindergarten in Ames. After doing some investigating, I agreed to go to dinner. Our first date was three days later, on March 25th!

Our first date was on March 25. We originally were planning to go to a restaurant called Cornbread in Ames. However when we got there the wait was over two hours long! Because we were strangers at the time, we decided it might be a little awkward to wait that long. Instead we went to Sweet Caroline‘s. After talking for three hours, Jacob was dropping me off at my apartment and immediately wanted to plan another date. I don’t know if I was nervous or what but I told him I had to “check my schedule”. I found out later that this had made him nervous, whoops, haha.

Jacob and I went to the Good Friday service at Cornerstone and then went back to my apartment to watch a movie. Before he left I remember we were standing across the kitchen from each other and that is when he asked me to be his girlfriend!
