October 23, 2017 South Johnston was holding the annual PowderPuff football game for Homecoming. But the Lord had bigger plans that night than girls football because, it rained and the game was cancelled. Haley was supposed to play in the game that night but due to the cancellation, Haley and her family decided to go get supper instead. They decided to go to Char-Grill in Benson, NC. As they were sitting down to eat, Jacob and a group of his friends and their family walked in to eat. Jacob wearing his baseball hoodie (of course), had his last name on the back. Haley quickly starting digging online to determine who that Norris boy was. It didn’t take long to learn that it was Jacob. Don’t ask Jacob, but it was Haley that made the first move and texted Jacob first that night. And that is where our story begins.

It didn’t take long to learn that we were both interested in one another. We began to text all day, everyday. We would see each other at school, go out to eat, but it wasn’t until October 31, 2017 we went on our first date to a corn maze and carved pumpkins at Haley’s house. We continued to go on dates, and on November 19, 2017 we began officially dating. (Ask Jacob how he asked Haley to be his girlfriend, it’s a good story.) And from that day on we have been together.

We started dating at 16 and 18 years old and the journey of starting out as high school sweethearts is one that comes with many challenges. But together, we faced different schools, towns, and simple growing up but we always faced every obstacle together. We have been together for both of our Senior Gala’s, both Proms, every award show, holiday’s, both high school and college graduations, every milestone in between, and Haley has probably gone to a million baseball games.

Us being together for over six years now, there are so many stories to write and milestones to talk about, but there are simply not enough words for the amount of love we have for one another. We are each other’s best friends.

Getting to love you the rest of my life, will be the greatest thing I ever do. I can’t wait to marry you on August 3, 2024 and spend each day with you by my side. I couldn’t think of anyone else I would want to go through this life with.
