God's Story In Our Relationship
HOW WE WERE BROUGHT TOGETHER...
...we met at Steel Valley Church. As fellow church and praise team members we only exchanged a few conversations.
Jacob started working in the Kitchen as a Cook at the Rescue Mission of the Mahoning Valley in July. Shanika as a Women and Families Client Advisor in October of 2024. With us working in different departments we had to communicate well with one another regularly.
Through lots of answered prayers and God using the people in our lives we went out on our 1st date Thursday March 7th, 2024. Our second date was one week later and we knew we would be together moving forward.
We went to The Delightful Maple Cafe for brunch, where we shared the best homemade coffee and breakfast ever. Then we spent hours walking around at the Cleveland Museum of Art. Finally finishing off the night with Chipotle for Dinner. We spent TEN hours together and could have easily spent ten more.
During our second date:
- We prayed together over our meal, time together and for God be with us throughout this process...whatever it would end up being.
- We shared sips of our coffee and bites from our meals. (Something we have consistently done since)
- Jacob was kind enough to grab Shanika's phone from the car so that she could take a picture of how nice the breakfast was. Photo as proof below :)
- While driving around we had lots of good conversation as well as several moments of nice long silence. It was a glimpse of the spiritual rest that God promises to those who put their trust in Him.
