Our Story

How We Met

Although Josh and Jacqueline first met working for the Recreation Department in Los Alamitos, they like to say they met at Disneyland.

One night in January 2013, Jacqueline and a friend were walking up the exit of the Indiana Jones attraction, when a unique Monsters University sweatshirt caught her eye. She looked up and thought to herself, "I think I work with that guy", but was too shy to say anything.

The next day at work, she asked this same guy if he was at Disneyland the night before. Josh enthusiastically responded "Yeah! Did you see my sweatshirt? I have an annual pass. Do you have a pass? We should go sometime."

How It Started

After two years of friendship, seeing each other almost every day, and probably close to 150 trips to Disneyland, Josh and Jacqueline decided to give a romantic relationship a try.

Worried about their friendship, and not wanting things to change, they decided to keep it to themselves until they were sure being in a relationship was what they both wanted.

Josh and Jacqueline have proved that they are better together. They make each other much better, happier people. A prime example that the best relationships come from friendships.

How He Asked

Halloween is Josh and Jackie's favorite time of year to visit Disneyland and they make a point to plan a trip during that season every year. Their 2019 Halloween trip at the beginning of October, seemed no different than any other.

On the last morning of their visit, while heading into Adventureland to ride Indiana Jones, Josh put on his Monsters University sweatshirt. Nearing the ride, he grabbed Jackie's hand and guided her toward the exit rather than the queue.

In the spot where they "first met", wearing the sweatshirt that started it all, Josh got down on one knee and asked Jackie to marry him. In true Jackie fashion, she giggle-cried, "Yes!".

The Wedding Day

Josh and Jackie did not want to delay getting married in spite of the global pandemic. On April 3rd, 2021, they were married in an intimate ceremony with their immediate families. Now they would like to celebrate their marriage with all of their friends and family as originally envisioned!
