What is the attire for the wedding?

Formal Attire. Suit and tie for men. Tuxedo is optional. Formal cocktail dress or evening gown for women.

Where is the Union League of Philadelphia located?

The Union League of Philadelphia is located at 140 S. Broad Street, Philadelphia, PA. The League House encompasses an entire city block with entrances on all sides. The main entrance is on Broad Street with the hotel entrance located on Sansom Street.

Where is the Inn at the Union League located?

The Inn at the Union League is located at 1450 Sansom Street, Philadelphia, PA (between Broad St. and 15th Street). The Inn is housed in the same building as the Union League and is accessible through its entrance on Sansom Street directly across from the Union League Parking Garage.

Where should we park?

Complimentary parking is provided for wedding guests on the day of the wedding at the Union League parking garage located at 1415 Sansom Street. The parking garage is directly across the street from the Inn at the Union League (which is in the same building as the Union League). The parking rate is $45/night for those staying prior to the wedding day. PLEASE MAKE SURE TO PICK UP A PARKING VOUCHER. Parking vouchers will be located at the bar during the wedding reception.

Do we enter the Union League from Broad Street or Sansom Street?

You may enter from either street. If entering from Broad Street, you must navigate the steps to the main floor entrance. For those who cannot navigate steps, you may enter through the Inn at the Union League located on Sansom Street, directly across from the parking garage, and take the elevators up to the main floor of the Union League.

Will there be transportation to and from the ceremony?

We have arranged for Philadelphia Trolley works to transport guests from the Union League on Broad Street to St. John’s Church starting 45 minutes prior to the ceremony. Following the ceremony, the trolleys will transport guests from the church back to the Union League and/or Double Tree Hotel.

What do I do during the time after the ceremony and before the cocktail hour?

We have arranged for guests to relax and refresh in the Front Sitting Room at the Union League prior to cocktail hour.

Are kids invited to the wedding?

To give yourselves and other guests the opportunity to fully enjoy themselves, we politely request that no children are brought to the cocktail hour or reception.

What is the Dress Code at the Union League?

For Men: Jacket and tie are strongly preferred. Jacket and collared shirt are required at all times on the first floor members-only section of the League House.

Not Permitted: Turtleneck shirts, collared shirts open more than one button, untucked shirts, jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, and flip-flops.

For Women: Business suits, tailored pant or skirt ensembles and dresses.

Not Permitted: Spandex, open midriffs, halter tops, shorts, leggings, extremely short hemlines (not more than 3” above the knee), jeans, t-shirts, sneakers, and flip-flops.

Unacceptable Attire: The following attire is never acceptable on the first or second floors of the League House: jeans, denim-wear, t-shirts, athletic wear, tank, halter, or jogging tops, untucked shirts, collared shirts unbuttoned more than one button or two inches from the neckline, wrinkled clothing, shorts, baseball caps, spandex, open midriffs, leggings, extremely short hemlines, sneakers, extremely casual or beach footwear.

Members and guests staying at the Inn at the Union League or using the Fitness Center may enter and leave the League House in attire that would not otherwise comply with the Rules of the House Committee only to go to or leave from the Fitness Center or the overnight rooms only by using the Sansom Street entrance and the elevators to and from the overnight rooms.

Exceptions: Breakfast: Business casual attire is acceptable in the Founders Room or Café Meredith for breakfast only. Saturday and Sunday: Business casual attire is acceptable on Saturday until 5:00pm and all day Sunday in the Café throughout the year.

Is the Dress Code Strictly Enforced?

Yes.
