On New Year's Eve 2015 I saw an attractive man in a blue shirt, a simple new year's kiss turned into an amazing love story and the rest is history.
After exchanging numbers and many messages, we went on our first date to the Pretoria botanical gardens. Not knowing about Jacques's obsession with cycads at the time, I was beyond impressed by his knowledge of cycads, which included identifying most of the cycads at the gardens and even knowing their biological names.
The first date went by in a flash and I immediately knew that great things were coming.
Not long after we started dating, I told my mom that Jacques was the man that I wanted to marry.
We moved in after being together for 4 years and not long after we got 2 small yorkie puppies, who we call "Hailey-muis" and "Willow-mier".
I have learned so many things throughout the 7 years of being together and I cannot wait to experience married life with my best friend.
My bestman and I, not wanting to stay home and watch movies on New Years Eve, decided we would go out and have a good time.
Luckily I only knew of one place we could go, Chef's on Deck. That evening the most beautiful woman approached me and we ended up exchanging numbers later.
For our first date we went to the botanical gardens, a place I knew like the back of my hand, but this time I did not walk around for hours admiring plants but spent the afternoon at the waterfall learning to know her. It seemed to good to be true, she was drop dead gorgeous and had a lovely personality.
After 3 months I asked her out. I mean if you know, you know. We spent the next 4 years mostly spending time together during weekends and holidays. During this time I truly got to know her. She brought the best out of me.
We finally moved in together and got 2 four legged kids. It was time for our next step.
7 years later and no doubt in my mind, I will be waiting down the aisle for my best friend to start the rest of our journey together.
