Our Wedding

Her story: We met through mutual.....(facebook) friends. We'd been friends online for many years, but never actually met or saw each other in person. Which is very surprising considering how many people we actually knew in common. Our moms even worked together for a period of time. One day we decided to meet up to go bowling.... and the rest is history.His story: I was sliding in Jada's DMs and she was giving me the cold shoulder.... but she was always nice to me. Fast forward 10 years later, I still was in the DMs. One day I messaged her about a job at Children's, and asked her to text the info to me... so she did. After that I was gonna take advantage of having her number and we kept texting. At first she wasn't fully texting me. So I was like, "You know what, let's go bowling and get to know each other". We went bowling (or tried to anyway) but that thing was packed. So I was like, "You want to go get a milkshake?" We had some good conversations and it kept on going and I was like, "You know what, this is the one for me". After that, we pretty much never left each other's side.

How We Met

When we first started talking, I told him how much I loved bowling. He called me randomly one day and said "I'm off, do you want to go bowling tonight?" I immediately said yes. We met up at the bowling alley and walked in to "league night". The lady at the desk told us to come back in an hour and there should be lanes open. We went across the street to Sonic and drank milkshakes and talked while we waited. The conversation came so easily and we laughed about everything. When the hour was up we went back to the bowling alley and they told us there would be no more lanes for the night..... So our first date ended up being milkshakes in the Sonic parking lot.

Her story: We've talked about marriage since the beginning of our relationship. What we wanted in a partner, what we wanted for ourselves, how we saw our future. I knew pretty early on that he was my person. Fast forward to this past summer, I was working for 2 months in Ithaca, New York. While I was gone, we planned a beach trip for when I got back home. We decided to invite our friends Raleigh and Angel. Since DeMilton would be coaching football in the fall, we decided to just take a long weekend trip. If you know anything about my travel history, flying was simply not an option if we wanted to make it in a decent amount of time. So the beach had to be drivable. We settled on Myrtle Beach. DeMilton suggested we take group photos on the beach, and told everyone to bring a white outfit. Usually I'm involved in making plans, but it seemed like Raleigh, Angel and DeMilton had planned everything already. He insisted that I got my hair and nails done before the trip, so I did. The night before we left, one of my nails broke. DeMilton was more upset than I was about it breaking... which I thought was weird. We got to Myrtle, and we were having such a great time. Saturday came and we got ready for pictures. Raleigh's mom was going to take our photos for us, so the plan was to stop by her house and then head to the beach. When we got to her house, the guys had to "go help with something", and said they would meet us at the beach. A little while after, we met for pictures. DeMilton had the best surprise waiting... His story: The engagement? Okay. So it started back in June. She was gone for work and I wanted it all figured out before she came home. I had the ring and I was texting Angel. I was like "hey I'm gonna send this stuff to your house so she doesn't see it". Angel and Raleigh helped with a lot of the set up. They hooked me up with the photographer. August came and she came home and I felt like I was doing a terrible job at hiding the engagement stuff. We head down to Dirty Myrtle. I was annoyed because her nails kept breaking. We were going to take some pictures. We went to Raleigh's family's house and acted like we were helping move some stuff. Then the girls came down for pictures. We had it all set up and the photographer was hiding in the bushes. Was I terrified? No... BUT I was nervous. I was like "her family isn't here, I don't want her to be upset about that, should I wait to do it?" But then I was like no, I have it all here, we're going to do this. I got down on one knee and popped the question and she cried and I got a little teary eyed. Our family got to watch it on facetime. Then after we walked back to the beach house and jumped in the pool.
