Joey’s brother Chad left us this past fall after a long battle with brain cancer. Chad was Joey’s best friend and role model. They had such a strong bond as brothers. Their weekly phone calls would consist of catching up on life, Chad’s kids, but most of the conversation revolved around hockey. Chad loved talking hockey. We miss him every day, and will especially miss him on our big day. Joey’s nephew and godson Beau is the son of Chad and Danika. Joey loves being Beau’s uncle. Whenever Beau and Joey get together, you can bet that hours of playing will be had. Just like Beau’s dad, Chad, Beau is an avid hockey lover. Beau and Joey spend much of their time playing mini hockey or skating on Beau’s backyard rink sharpening up on his skills. Beau is the best big brother to his younger sisters Thea and Ella.

Tommy is the big brother of Joey’s. Tommy has taught Joey everything he knows(inside joke). Tommy and Joey have a great brother relationship. They spend many hours on the phone talking about the latest things going on in their lives. Joey enjoys making trips out to Colorado to spend quality time with his brother.

Joe is a childhood friend of Joey’s. They enjoyed many trips together to go watch Joey’s brother Chad play hockey when he was playing for the Fargo Force. Joe loves talking to Joey about Joey’s teams he coaches and is usually good for providing a couple coaching tips along the way. Joe and Joey have a brother-like friendship that continues to this day.

Logan is a childhood friend of Joey’s. You could always find Logan and Joey together. Playing some intense games of mini hockey, or a nice little game of hide the sticks. This dynamic duo were defensive partners on the Spoiler hockey team. They made many trips together to go watch sporting events, trips to Logan’s lake, or attending JR’s Bar for Mexican food every Wednesday. You could say these two were inseparable back in the day.

Andrew is a childhood friend of Joey’s. Andrew and Joey were the deer pushers for their hunting group back in the day. Who thought it was a good idea to give these two walkie talkies back then because they wouldn’t shut up on those things, driving Uncle Geno nuts. Eventually, these two became big hunters of their own. Spending many hours in a tree stand together, baiting food plots, or checking trail cameras. Joey and Andrew loved driving out to Andrews farm to check on his dad Doug, and see his grandma Agnes. They also had lots of fun at the “blue house” during those years.

Jaime and Joey were high school friends and college roommates. They were teammates on the Spoiler football state championship team and legion baseball championship team. They would continue being teammates where they played baseball at Valley City State. They had a ton of great memories together in their college days, but we won’t get into them on this platform. Let’s just say there is never a dull moment with these two. When Joey took over the baseball program in Grafton, he brought Jaime on as an assistant coach. Joey loved his time coaching with one of his best friends.

Austin and Joey are first cousins and grew up together. These two have been friends since they were in diapers. But, Joey wasn’t afraid to let people know that he is 5 days older than Austin. They would attend many UND hockey games together back in the day with the Campbell family. Back in their early youth hockey days, these two had to be on the same team. Just ask some of their former coaches. You just couldn’t separate these two.

Zach and Joey were childhood friends. They went to the same babysitter, and spent many hours playing at each other’s houses. Back in the elementary school recess days, Zach and Joey made sure they were on the same team by “possibly” rigging the number game to make sure they would end up on the same team. I guess that’s what happens when you are highly competitive at such a young age. Zach and Joey played football, hockey, and baseball together growing up. Winning a state football and legion baseball title together.

Thomas is a childhood friend of Joey’s and were college roommates. They spent many summers going to Larimore Dam to hangout at the Houdek campsite. They were Spoiler baseball teammates, winning a state legion championship together. They would continue as teammates playing baseball together at Valley City State. They created many great memories being college roommates. One of Thomas’s favorite things in college was when Joey would come back from the weekend with a pickup full of groceries that Joey’s mom Susie bought.

Ryan is Joey’s brother-in-law. Ryan and Joey have built a great relationship since Joey started dating Jade. They hit it off from the start, but Jade had to get Ryan’s approval before furthering her relationship with Joey. After meeting Joey a few times, Ryan often would tell Jade “don’t mess this up!” Here we are now preparing for their wedding so the final approval has been given!

Josh(Yard) is a friend of Joey’s. Yard and Joey spend a lot of their time coaching high school hockey together as Yard is one of Joey’s assistants on the staff. They spend many hours talking hockey, along with their other favorite sports teams. With Yard being a Philadelphia Flyers fan and Joey being the avid Washington Capitals fan he is, some friendly banter can occur between these two when it comes to who the better NHL team is.

Jacy is Jade’s older sister and as many would say, built in best friend. Like most siblings, they had a slow start to their friendship, but now Jade cherishes the close relationship they share. You can always find them together on the golf course, boat or enjoying the occasional martini at their parents house!

Liz is Jade’s cousin. They have been besties since babies (literally) as they are just months apart in age! Jade and Liz have experienced every stage in life together- grade school, college, and now both soon to be wives!

Jade and Kenzie have been friends since high school but really got close in college. When Kenzie would come home for a long weekend you could bet she was making a trip to Grand Forks for a girls night! Times are a little slower when the two get together now, but the laughs and smiles are still nonstop!

Jade and Tiffanie were college roomies and hit it off instantly - where you would see one, you could bet that the other one wasn’t far away! Even though they now live hours apart, they still find the time to get together and catch up like no time has passed at all! !

Danika is Jade’s sister- in law. Fun fact: Danika was the first one in the Demers family to know about Jade & Joey! Despite Jade nor Danika coming from “hockey families” they find that the hockey rink is where they spend the most time together - no surprise being a part of the Demers clan! Jade thinks of Danika like a sister and cherishes their relationship!

Alex and Jade have been friends since high school, but really sparked a friendship when they lived in the same apartment complex in college. Since then, they have remained close, sharing countless memories and supporting each other through thick and thin!

Jade and Kaitlyn were two peas in a pod growing up. As they lived just a few miles apart & their parents being good friends, they really had no other choice! Countless hours were spent down at Matejcek dam, each other's houses and driving to Park River to get a DQ. College took them their separate ways but their friendship always picks up where it left off!
