Our Wedding

I first met Jaden Howerton back in 6th grade. It wasn’t some grand, unforgettable moment—just one of those middle school friendships that sparked through mutual friends, a few awkward introductions, and Facebook messages sent late at night when we were supposed to be doing homework. We didn’t hang out all the time, but we always seemed to run into each other—at Battle of the Bell games, parties at people’s houses, or just random places around town. There was always this familiarity between us, even if we didn’t talk every day. Time moved on like it always does. After high school, Jaden moved away to Sydney, Montana. I took a different path and joined the Army in March of 2020. Life got busy. New places, new people, new routines. I didn’t think much of the past. But in December 2021, I came home on Christmas leave. I wasn’t expecting to see her again, but one night at Fizzie’s, there she was—same smile, same vibe. We chatted like no time had passed. It felt easy. Natural. Like picking up a conversation we hadn’t finished years ago. On my birthday—January 31st, 2022—she added me on Snapchat. I thought maybe this could be something. But she kept me at arm’s length. For months, she wouldn’t give me the time of day. I can’t say I wasn’t a little frustrated, but I also couldn’t blame her. Life had taken us in different directions, and people change. But by May 2022, something shifted. We started really talking. That summer, I came home on leave again—and that’s when she finally agreed to a date. From there, things just fell into place. Slowly at first, then all at once. We built something real. Through distance, life changes, and everything in between—we kept showing up for each other. And in October of 2024, we stood together and said “I do.” Funny how life works—how two kids who barely knew what they were doing back in 6th grade could somehow find their way back to each other. But we did. And I wouldn’t change a thing
