We live very close to the MN state Capitol building which is a publicly accessible building M-F. It is BEAUTIFUL and I recommend going on a walking tour of the Capitol if you love history.

Como Park is full of beautiful sites to see. There is a wonderful conservatory and an AZA accredited zoo. This is free and open to the public. There is also a lake & walking trails around the park.
