If you are flying in, the closest airport is in Greensboro, the Piedmont Triad International Airport is 15-20 minutes away from the camp.

Raleigh-Durham is about 1.5 hours and Charlotte about 2 hours.

Check out the Camp Carefree website! The camp is a non-profit offering a free summer camp to children with chronic illnesses and disabilities. It is a beautiful place with donkeys, alpacas, and miniature and regular-sized horses.

There are many amazing sights in the area. Folk music legend Charlie Poole is from down the road of the camp, and many legendary bluegrass albums were recorded at the Stokesdale motel. Lexington-style BBQ is locally famous for its smoky, vinegary qualities. Winston-Salem is also home to the colonial town of Old Salem, as well as the Bowman Gray Stadium, a modern-day colosseum for contemporary gladiators (NASCAR drivers).

If you're looking to make a trip out of this, we would recommend going to the Pisgah national forest in the Smoky Mountains.
