We met volunteering a month of our time in June 2021 at Timberwolf Young Life camp in Michigan. By the grace of God, we were put in the same session at the same camp! The picture above is from the last week at camp in 2021 a couple days before we were sent home.
We didn't notice each other much at first but after the first week or so at camp we started to become friends and eventually developed camp crushes on one another. We both knew we were from different states, 6 hours away but we said "lets see what happens" when it was time to go home. Sure enough God's hand was in it from the start when I found out my family and I were going on family vacation just an hour from Knoxville where Jake would be in August 2021. I told my family about Jake and asked if he could meet us in Gatlinburg while we were there for vacation. They said yes and on that trip Jake asked me to be his girlfriend.
From then on we figured out how to manage long distance, learn about one another, and put Jesus at the center of our relationship. People ask us all the time how we are able to do long distance. We always say it wouldn't be possible without Jesus, communication, dedication, and hope in the future.
Now we are getting married and we couldn't be more excited!
