A lot of people ask how Jake and Mackenzie met. Occasionally, Jake will say they met in high school or Mackenzie will say they met at church. Both of which are true, but here’s the full story…
Jake and Mackenzie met attending the same high school and having the same homeroom teacher for two years. On the day of their high school graduation, May 18, 2018, Mackenzie‘s childhood best friend, Maddie, convinced Mackenzie to DM her high school crush, Jake Collins. “What’s the harm?” Maddie said “It’s not like you’ll see him again”. This DM would spark a five-year friendship between Jake and Mackenzie while they both went to college and lived in different states.
The two ran into each other for the first time since high school in late summer 2023 at RedRocks Church Young Adults. They went on their first date on September 2, 2023 to the Rockies game. It took one date for them both to know that this was the real thing. Three weeks later on September 23, 2023, Jake asked if Mackenzie would be his girlfriend and they quickly fell in love.
On October 4, 2024, Jake took Mackenzie on a picnic in Ken Caryl overlooking the valley where he got down on one knee and asked her to spend the rest of their lives together. SHE SAID YES!!
The rest is history and the two can’t wait to be married this August!
