1999

Mariah Kate Morgan was born in Honesdale, Pennsylvania.

2002

Jacob Adam Lyle was born in Tuscan Medical Center, Arizona.

2007

The Lyle Family moves to Honesdale, PA from the North Shore of MA where his dad, Michael, studied at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. His dad accepts a position as Lead Pastor at the First Presbyterian Church of Honesdale.

2011

Mariah starts to attend youth group at the First Presbyterian Church, and the Morgans decide to make it their home church.

2012

In middle school now, Mariah tags along with big sister, Molly, to babysitting jobs - one being Charlotte Lyle and her siblings. Little did Jake know that his babysitter would one day become his wife-to-be!

2017

Jake and Mariah serve on a Mission Trip to Michigan and are placed in the same work group (which they recently found out was a set up by Jake’s dad!). They continue building their friendship in youth group and serving at church together.

2018-2020

Mariah attends Gordon College on the North Shore of Massachusetts to study Communications. Jake and Mariah remain in touch and often get coffee or ice cream when she is home from school.

2020-2021

Jake begins his college search and he and Mariah are in frequent communication. On winter break back at home, Mariah works as a barista at the church coffee shop, Level Grounds, where Jake is a frequent customer.

He visits Gordon College and decides to attend starting in Fall 2021. Jake claims his decision was not based on Mariah, "but she was the cherry on top." He shares with her that he likes her. Mariah is flattered but asked if they could remain friends. Though quietly, she knows she likes Jake and has for a long time.

2021

Jake arrives at Gordon in the fall, and Mariah shares her feelings with Jake. They start dating on October 29, 2021. Their first date was at West Beach, where they had a Chinese food picnic (Mikados), watched the sunset, and walked the beach. It was a little chilly, and Jake still reminds Mariah that it would not have been as cold if she had communicated earlier in the semester that she liked him.

2021-2022

They enjoy their one year in college together with lots of walks around Gull Pond, Mikados, and Woodman's dates, adventures, and road- trips home to visit family.

2022

Mariah graduates from Gordon College and decides to remain local. She starts her job at Gordon College that summer.

After knowing each other for so long, it becomes evident early on in their relationship that they desire to get married. Knowing they have a season of waiting, they begin a year-long process of pre-engagement counseling.

2023

Jake asks Tim for Mariah's hand. Jake proposes on Thanksgiving weekend at Mariah's family farm on Wednesday, November 22, 2023.

2024

The engaged couple anticipates married life together! They find their first apartment where Mariah will be living alone until the wedding and Jake enjoys his final semester living on campus. They plan for their wedding day and use this engagement season to prepare for life together as husband and wife.
