How We Met

Jake and Callie met through mutual friends at a bonfire in Morton, IL. After a few months of talking Jake asked Callie if she wanted to start a relationship. To which, Callie said no, she would rather stay friends! So, they continued talking and eventually Callie realized what a great guy Jake was and said yes to dating.

Dating

While dating, Jake and Callie did two years of long distance. Jake attended school at U of I and studied computer science and economics. Callie attended school at UIC and studied kinesiology and nutrition. There were many train rides between Chicago and Champaign during these years. They spent most weekends together disc golfing, eating good food, and enjoying each other's company.

The Proposal

After graduating, Jake got a job in California, which meant even further long distance than before! After moving out West, Callie spent the summer with Jake before heading back to Chicago for anther semester of school. Little did she know, Jake had something very special planned for the end of that summer!

In July, Jake and Callie spent a weekend in Yosemite National Park. They got up early to begin hiking and exploring before the big crowds of people began showing up for the day. Their first stop of the day was at Yosemite Falls. Here they climbed on the rocks right next to the waterfall and took in the views of the park. Callie wanted to capture this happy moment so she turned around to set her phone on a rock to take a picture. Pretty soon she heard "Callie, turn around", to which she did and found Jake down on one knee and a ring box in his hand! Of course, she said "YES!"
