Our love story began in Balboa Park, six feet apart, in masks, during the pandemic. Having conversed over the phone, both of us decided that meeting each other in person was worth the risk of exposure. And so we each brought lunch, a mask, and a blanket, and settled down to a delightful picnic (Maya brought sushi, James brought a signature BLT), which was shortly thereafter interrupted by Maya's friend's two year old, who had wandered into our picnic date from a neighboring picnic some of Maya's friends were having not far away. Maya swears up and down that this was just a coincidence, and Rachel and Lindsay will corroborate this story, but you make your own decision. After 6-months of hiking, talking, laughing, and playing SO MANY board games together, we started living together part time, since Maya was doing her internship in Long Beach. A year after that, we started living together full time, since both of us were done with living out of a suitcase, and excited to live together! James proposed on a walk at sunset cliffs nearby our first home together in San Diego. Some of our favorite times together have included traveling Catalina Island and Italy together, and also spending time together with family and friends in San Diego, New York, and Seattle. We are so excited for this next chapter and can't wait to party with you all in September!
