Autumn is the most beautiful time of year in the Hudson Valley. We have shared some of our favorite places to visit in the local area. We hope you have time to explore. You are in for a treat!
Walkway Over the Hudson State Historic Park is the World's Longest Elevated Pedestrian Bridge, spanning the Hudson River between Poughkeepsie and Highland, New York in the beautiful Hudson Valley. If you are looking for lunch nearby, go to Rossi's (see below)!
Located in Ulster County, NY Minnewaska State Park Preserve is situated on the dramatic Shawangunk Mountain ridge, which rises more than 2,000 feet above sea level and is surrounded by rugged, rocky terrain. The park features numerous waterfalls, three crystalline sky lakes, dense hardwood forests, incising sheer cliffs and ledges opening to beautiful views, clear streams cut into valleys, 35 miles of carriage roads and 50 miles of footpaths on which to bike, walk, hike and simply enjoy.
It’s paved and flat, with scenery that’s drop-dead gorgeous, making it perfect for a casual stroll. The 2.8-mile trail hugs the southern shore of the reservoir. Across its windswept waves, the Catskills loom in their seasonal splendor. Don’t be surprised if you spot a bald eagle.
Located directly outside of the village of New Paltz, this 6 mile loop provides beautiful views of the Shawangunk Ridge. This is the perfect spot for a walk before or after a visit to New Paltz's Main Street which has great cafes, coffee shops, and fun spots for shopping.
If you are looking for the quintessential autumn in the Hudson Valley experience, you will find it at Kelder's Farm. Enjoy activities including apple picking, corn maze, and hayrides. Apple cider donuts and a photo with the giant gnome are a must!
If you are looking for a spot to have lunch there is really only one place we recommend as a must visit, and that is Rossi's deli in Poughkeepsie. There is no wrong order here, but if you are having a hard time deciding, The Number Four or Caprese will not disappoint.
