Our Wedding

Michelle and James attended a protest, separately, in Queens Park in May of 2021, they didn't know it at the time but that day would bring them together in a way they would have never imagined. After Michelle commented on one of James' pictures, he messaged her directly and that is where their story began!&nbsp;It didn’t take long for them to realize that they shared many of the same values, interests and hobbies, the conversations were so easy and came so effortlessly.&nbsp;On their first date, Michelle drove to St. Catharines to meet James, where they then went out to Chile &amp; Agave for lunch, one of his favourite places which also eventually became one of hers.&nbsp;It wasn’t long after this date that James moved from his apartment into a house.&nbsp;Michelle’s sense of style and fashion shown through while James was establishing his new home. In June of 2022, Michelle and James began living together.&nbsp;They both enjoy the outdoors, going for long and peaceful hikes, spending time at the family cottage, fishing and going on long walks along the canal near their home.&nbsp;It was during this time when they decided to get their first pet together.&nbsp;While at first, they considered a Samoyed, they realized that their work schedules were not ideal for a dog, but they would work for a cat. Michelle was severely allergic growing up but with the help of naturopathic medicine and supplements, her allergies became very minimal to non-existent. In December of 2022, Michelle and James brought home a ragdoll kitten and named him Harry, he became the first member of their family. Michelle's passion for travelling and adventure brushed off onto James and it was finally time for him to renew his passport, after 10 years of it being expired! In June of 2023,&nbsp;they took their first flight together and spent a week in Alberta, where they hiked, explored and grew even closer in their relationship. They celebrated their second anniversary at Moraine Lake and Lake Louise. They also took day trips to upstate New York and found some unique places that they still visit from time to time, these places hold a special memory in their hearts.&nbsp;During the year, James and Michelle could see that Harry was feeling a bit lonely, especially when they would get home from work late, they knew he needed a companion, a half-brother perhaps. The couple decided they would wait until Harry turned 2, but God had other plans.&nbsp;Michelle was just browsing the breeder's website and realized that Harry's biological father, Mango (an adorable flame point ragdoll) had his final litter of kittens and had just been neutered, but there was one male left in the litter and he had not been claimed yet. In December of 2023, just before Christmas and a year earlier than they had originally planned, James and Michelle went to the breeder and brought home a half brother for Harry, they named him Phillip and he became the second member of their family. James knew that 2024 would be the year he proposed to Michelle.&nbsp;He made plans to meet with Michelle's family to ask for their blessing. After receiving the blessing from her family, James began ring shopping with Michelle's mother, Iwona. Michelle made it known to James that when the time came, he wanted him to go with her mother as she knew it would be a special moment for them, and Iwona also knew her daughter's style very well.&nbsp;On May 5, 2024, James brought Michelle to the canal that they often took walks along, got down on one knee and proposed to her. The proposal was such a surprise and with tears in her eyes, Michelle answered “yes”. Less than a month later, they went on a 2-week vacation to Cyprus that had been planned prior to the engagement. Having this time together was the most perfect opportunity to celebrate their engagement and to cherish all of the moments before the planning officially started. This was the most remarkable trip of both their lives and they will always keep the adventures, laughter and memories close. In September 2024, the couple hosted their engagement party at Michelle's work, Culinaria.&nbsp;They had family and friends from both families attend, there was such a loving and lively atmosphere, with amazing food and drink that was enjoyed by all.&nbsp;It is now early 2025 when this website is being created but Spring 2025 when the guests will be able to see, they are in the thick of wedding planning and are so excited to share all of their special ideas and moments with you all, September will be here before we know it and we welcome it with open hearts and arms. We are so thankful for all of the support you have shown us and are looking forward to celebrating with you all in September! We are so grateful for the memories we have shared together between family and friends so far and are looking forward to creating many more. With love, James and Michelle

Rebecca, but we all call her Bex! Michelle and Bex met during their sorority days at Wilfrid Laurier University, they bonded while going through recruitment together. In September of this year, it would have been almost exactly 12 years ago, it is so wild how fast time truly goes by. During their time at Laurier, they clicked instantly and so effortlessly, and after graduation, their friendship started to evolve and they started to grow even closer. It was such a blessing that they lived so close to each other, they were able to share their love for nature, adventure and travel together. When Bex asked Michelle to be her maid of honour 7 years ago, Michelle was so excited to be by her side and to support Bex in every single way that she could. In September of this year, Bex will stand beside Michelle and be there for her during this special day. The role as Maid of Honour was meant for Bex. She is the most supportive, loving and thoughtful friend who only wants the best for the people in her life. She is truly a blessing and all of the people in her life have the honour of knowing and experiencing this. 


Bex, I am so thankful for everything you do for me and for your constant friendship, support, kindness and loyalty, it truly means the world to me. I am so excited to see what life throws our way, no matter what happens, I know that I have such an amazing friend by my side and I cannot wait to make more memories with you!

Rebecca Taylor

Michael Tricarico and James Houlden have known each other since the beginning.  The two grew up together in Richmond Hill, Ontario. They attended kindergarten together; Michael and James met each other waiting at the same bus stop together on their way to school.  They became close friends in early elementary school and remained close from then on.  They attended the same elementary school, high school, and the same university. Michael is a man of great character.  He is reliable, trustworthy, and always there to help his friends.  He is always there to give great advice and insight to people based on their strengths, and skills.  He truly cares about the well being of his friends and wants to see them succeed and do well, a quality which is rare in the modern day. Even after James moved from Richmond Hill down to Niagara back in 2019, the two remained in regular contact with each other.  James and Michael enjoy going up to the cottage in the summer, going to Silverdale shooting range, and trying new restaurants in Niagara or Toronto. Michael created the social media meme account for James and attended the protest in Toronto that brought him and Michelle together.  For that alone, James will always be grateful to him.  Michael also organized James’ bachelor party.  Michael could not be a better choice for a Best Man on James and Michelle’s special day. Thank you for everything that you have done and continue to do for me, I will always appreciate our friendship.

Christine, what started off as a photoshoot turned into such a special friendship that I am so grateful and lucky to have. Honestly, where do I even begin? You are such a bright and warm person and light up any room you walk into. You are selfless and will always stop whatever you are doing to help anyone who needs it. You are so thoughtful and will always think of others before yourself, that’s what makes you, you.  From taking Ellicottville trips with you, to a photoshoot in Paris, road trips to take care of business, I look forward to it all. Every single day with you is an adventure and I don't know what is in store for us, but I know that I have a lifelong friend and sister in you and that makes me so happy. You are such a loyal friend and I know that you always want the absolute best for me, James and both of our families. God brought us together at a time when we might not have known the purpose, but as we grew, we became a reliable shoulder and person to count on for each other. You are truly such a special person to me and I am so thankful that you are a part of my special day. Thank you for everything you do for me.

James met Jacob Janik, Michelle's brother, in late 2021, a few months after the couple started dating.  Jacob has always been welcoming and inviting when James would come over to visit Michelle and her family in Burlington.  He is always willing to give a helping hand to the couple when they need it and will always help out and be there to support his family as much as he is able to.  James and Jacob enjoy similar hobbies and past times.  James, Michelle, Jacob, and their father, Robert often enjoy watching a UFC event together on a Saturday night.  James and Jacob have always great conversations, good laughs, and mutual respect for each other.  These last few years have flown by but they continue to share adventures and memories together. James is appreciative that Jacob will be part of his special day and is looking forward to calling Jacob, his brother-in-law.

Nicole and Michelle have known each their whole lives and were actually born about a year and a couple months apart! Nicole was born in September 1993 and Michelle was born in November 1994. Their mothers became best friends when they settled in Toronto many many years ago and both had daughters around the same time. Growing up together and seeing how they both have set their minds on their goals and work towards achieving and accomplishing them, would make those little girls who were playing in Disney princess costumes at birthday parties to navigating fashion and their sense of style, travelling, cottage trips and high school so proud. Through everything they have been through, there was always a sense of community, love, support and genuine friendship.

Nicole, you are so kind and have always been a sister to me. You have always been supportive and been through everything with me. Who can honestly say they have had a sister as long as they have been alive? I am so fortunate to have you in my life and I know that no matter where we are in life, we will always be there for each other and to celebrate all of the milestones we go through. I am truly so blessed and lucky to have you by my side on this special day. I love you so much, Michelle

Alex Houlden, the cousin of James, lives in the small town of Pelham, Ontario.  Alex and James have always been close from a young age, long before James moved down to the Niagara region.  Whether it be going for long walks, trying a new bar or restaurant, or playing long marathons of Super Smash Brothers and Mario Kart, Alex is a fun person to hang out with.  Alex is reliable and loyal to those he is close to.  Alex is witty, funny, and creative.   Over the years Alex has become skilled at dropping witty one liners that will have those in the room, howling in laughter.  He is also a content creator and has his own YouTube channel, where he creates and uploads his own animated style videos.  On his channel you will find unique, one-of-a-kind content.  He is dedicated to the interests that he prioritizes and his hard work pays off.  It is an honor and privilege to have Alex as a groomsman at this monumental moment.
