Our story begins over 15 years ago, in the winter of 2008, with a newly acquainted mutual friend proclaiming to each of us: “I’ve met the person you’re going to marry!” At 19, with James starting his first year away at college and Cassandra preparing for a year abroad, a relationship wasn’t necessarily on either of our to-do lists. That is, until said mutual friend orchestrated a “chance” encounter at one of the most romantic and fairy tale-esque places imaginable–the gym water fountain. Cassandra, still swollen from having her wisdom teeth removed that week, and James, gasping for air from jogging at a speed he was sure she would find impressive, knew quickly that the spark of something great had been lit. In the months before Cassandra was to depart to study abroad, we quickly grew together in our capacity to love each other.

In the years that have followed, our paths have at times crossed, diverted, and crossed again, from Lawrence, Philadelphia, Raleigh, Seattle, San Francisco, Denver, to our new home in Vermont. Through everything, our love for each other has remained a constant companion and permeated our experiences.

We initially planned to host one big, traditional wedding ceremony in Vermont, but due to the cost of having a fall Vermont wedding (and the cost of traveling to a fall Vermont wedding), we've decided to take things in a less formal direction. We'll host a pre-wedding celebration in Denver, a wedding dinner celebration in Burlington, and a post-wedding celebration in Seattle, with a ceremony at the courthouse in between.
