Tyler and Jamie met in July 2021 when Jamie came to Omaha the night before she was flying to Boston for a friend's wedding. They were introduced by the couple's mutual friend, Beth, who was a roommate of Ty's at the time. After chatting a bit, Jamie was surprised that Ty had even heard of Tri County with him having grown up in Omaha. Ironically Jamie and her parents and Ty's dad all graduated from the same high school.

The couple got to know eachother throughout that fall while tailgating and attending Husker football games together (with actual dates sprinkled in). Ty asked Jamie to officially be his girlfriend that New Year's Eve while they stayed in, drank wine, and watched the ball drop on television.

Ty proposed to Jamie on New Year's Eve (the couple's two year anniversary) while on vacation in Cabo with Ty's parents.

The couple is getting married in the bride's childhood church, which Ty's Grandma and Grandpa Bergmeier also got married in.
