*Makayla's POV*

I had just started my new waitressing job and was still in training. The restaurant was dead so there wasn't really much "training" going on. Jamie was the only table in the entire restaurant and his server wasn't my trainer, so I was aimlessly walking around the restaurant looking for something to do. It was at this moment I saw Jamie waving me down.

Makayla: "Hi, my name is Makayla. How can I help you?"

Jamie: "Excuse me but can I please get some more sprite?"

Makayla: "Absolutely, would you like more ice?"

Jamie: "No ice please."

Makayla: "Alright, I'll be right back with your sprite"

I walked back to the drink fountain and began filling the empty cup with sprite as the gentleman had so kindly requested. He looked kind of cute with his flat bill on backwards... Once the cup was filled once again with sprite, I carried the full glass back to the high-top table where he was patiently sitting. He started with some small chit chat about Disney movies, and I said my favorites were Finding Nemo and The Lion King...Jamie then showed me his phone lock screen of Rafiki from The Lion King quoting "Oh yes, the past may hurt. But the way I see it, you can either run from it, or learn from it". For the next 5 hours we talked about what felt like everything. The time flew by and when it came time for him to leave, I was certainly bummed but decided to go ahead and "shoot my shot" by asking Jamie to come back another time and sit in my section....

Makayla: "You should come back sometime soon and sit in my section, maybe be a regular of mine?"

Jamie: "Probably not..."

I was flabbergasted to say the least. My heart kinda "sunk" and this was a small knot in the pit of my stomach. I didn't know how to respond but I didn't want to show how disappointed I was with his response. . .

Later that night I attempted to find Jamie on social media and failed miserably. So, I stopped and bowed my head.

"Dear God,

Tonight, I am wondering why I am trying so desperately to find this guy and I feel so stupid...So Lord, if this man is the man you have created for me, and it is your will for us to be together I am going to give it all to you and if it's meant to be I know you will make it happen. I'm giving it to you father.

-Amen."

That was the last I thought about Jamie........

*Makayla’s POV*

I got to work today at 10am and we have a new manager. Normally I am one of the first people cut after the lunch rush, but I needed the money, so I stayed. The new manager wasn’t aware that we never cut it down to only one server, we are supposed to always have at least two. But here I am the only person on the floor, no host, and no expo with SEVEN tables…. I am running around this restaurant like a mad woman. I am irritated, tired, and hangry to say the least. Finally, the evening crew gets here, time to close out all of my tables so I can go home. The weather was surprisingly nice out for a March evening in Oklahoma, so we had the front doors propped open for customers and the sun was shining very bright. I am speed walking across the restaurant to go print the checks for all my tables when I hear all the girls says “Welcome to Peaks” so I look towards the doors and all I can see is the silhouette outline of what I am most definitely sure is Jamie. My very first thought is *Okay God, here’s my sign. I said I was giving it to you and if it was meant to be you would make it happen and here we are you are making it happen…..YES!!!!!! Thank you JESUS!* Okay maybe I wasn’t actually thinking *YES & Thank you JESUS!!* at the time because my anxiety was thru the roof and mentally, I was PANICKING, but I am very much thankful now lol! I continue to the kiosk to print out all the checks as the host and Jamie walk by me and I hear Jamie say “She is literally right there” as he motions towards me….I don’t say or do anything. *Proceed on route to your destination no detours*….I am going THRU it mentally as I print out these checks…

*Do I go up and say something? *

*Does he even remember me? *

*Well DUH he remembers you he just told the host you’re right there. *

*If I say something first, I'll look desperate. *

*Don’t look at his table it will be weird*

*What are you doing I said DON’T look*

*Why is every evening shift server at his table now I HAVE to go say something.*

*Alright keep your cool, you got this. This is just another table like any other table. Be professional and greet him like you would any other table…..ready..GO. *

Makayla: “Hi, my name is Makayla. I am working that section right over there and if you need anything at all please let me know.” *As I proceed to write my name on his coaster like all the other servers already had*

Jamie: “You don’t remember me, do you?”

Makayla: “Yes, I remember you, Jamie.” I say with a slight grin on my face. “I am very busy, I am almost off and I still have 7 tables I need to check out”

Jamie: “Alright well don’t leave without saying bye.”

Makayla: “Alright I can do that.”

I spent the next 30 minutes doing everything I needed to clock out. I run to the glam room and change into some yoga pants and a hoodie. I grab my bag, take a deep breath, and walk across the restaurant to the high-top table he is sitting at. I drop my bag on the floor next to the table and take a seat across from him. I steal some of his chips and queso as we catch up and talk. We talked for about an hour and a half before we began discussing me trying to get a personal trainer at the gym but they haven’t been getting back to me. Jamie then shows me a picture of his progress in the gym in which I was SHOCKED.

*Okay….were gonna do it, were gonna shoot our shot again…we can do this.*

Makayla: “Wow, there is no way that’s what you look like right now”

Jamie: “I swear”

Makayla: “Well, would you be my personal trainer?” *EEEEEK….*breathe*

Jamie: “I could probably do that, what gym do you go to?”

Makayla: *Holy crap you did it* “Ummm the gym just over there across the street, Genesis I think it is.”

Jamie: “I go to the Genesis in Broken Arrow but I can go to that one if it is closer for you”

Makayla: “Alright, well let me put my number in your phone and we can decide what days are good for both of us?”

Jamie: *hands me his phone* Are you free to go this evening?

Makayla: “Yeah, let me change clothes and I can meet you there?”

Jamie: “Sounds good to me.”

I go home, change into some gym clothes, text Jamie that I am about to head to the gym. I get to the gym and he taught me how to use all the different machines, showed me the sauna, steam room, pool, etc. We worked out, talked and got to know each other more and more. At the end of our workout he bought me a protein shake at the little café they had in the gym and walked me to my car. I thanked Jamie for the gym session and unlocked my car. Jamie told me bye and walked to his car. I was pleasantly surprised that he didn’t rush to be flirty, hug me goodbye, or anything of the sort.

That was the end of our “Day of Fate”

As Jamie and I began hanging out more and more I was going over to his apartment often. During this time Jamie was working the night shift at Whataburger and would often be sleeping when I would arrive so he would just keep his front door unlocked for me or would leave the key hidden somewhere for me. This went on for a few weeks and then one day as I was leaving his apartment he offered me a house key and I panicked to say the least and declined the key. I was nervous and I felt like that was a big step allowing me a house key. Obviously, Jamie was not wanting me to say no so he LITERALLY sales pitched me.

Makayla: "I don't want the key, you can just keep unlocking the door for me or hiding the key for me."

Jamie: "Okay come here!"

Jamie leads me back to the master bedroom.

Jamie: "This here is the master bedroom where you and I could share a bedroom together and right across the hall is the very spacious master bathroom WITH a large tub, as we walk thru the hallway you have a fully furnished living room where we can have game nights, movie night, or binge watch our favorite shows. Right off of the living room we have a nice dining room with a very nice garnet table where we will eat meals as a family. You will have a fully stocked kitchen and a nice laundry room stocked with the best smelling detergents lol. Down the other hallway is the bedroom the kids would share *this blew me away that he was thoughtful enough to think of my children as well* and a bathroom for the kids as well."

Makayla: "Oh is that so?" I say thru a grin as I have been laughing throughout this entire "tour".

Jamie then leads me outside.

Jamie: "Right outside of our apartment, if you take the key that is, is a playground for the kids to play at that we can literally see from our bedroom window. And over this way we have the pool and hot tub with a locked gate to keep the kids safe. Also, there is a gym anytime you want to get your squats in. So, what do you say?"

Makayla: "Well that was a very impressive tour, but I am going to need to think about your offer."

Jamie: "Alright, well the key is yours if you decide you want it."

I waited about a week and thought about his offer before I went ahead and accepted the key!

I invited Jamie over to my apartment for dinner where I planned on impressing him with my cooking and "attempted" to make Chicken Alfredo....in which I was so extremely nervous I completely undercooked the noodles and messed up the entire meal. I for sure thought he was headed for the door at this point and never texting me again. But to my surprise he endured the terrible meal and we still continued to have an amazing evening together. At the conclusion of our evening I walked Jamie to the door and as I hugged him goodbye, the urge to tell him "I love you" was strongggg...but I was so scared to admit that so soon so I chose to flip it on him and tell him "You love me" and to my surprise he responded with "You love me!" and from that day it has been an understanding between the two of us that "You love me" is just another way we tell each other "I love you"!!

We were headed down to Norman, Oklahoma so I could meet some more of Jamie's friends and we could all go out and have a good time together. On our way we had to make a stop in Edmond to visit my best friend (and bridesmaid) Ashley who was off at college at the time. We got to her apartment and hung out awhile before we all got hungry and Ash asked me if we wanted to go get food which I was so down for!! She asked if Chinese was okay because there was a Chinese place she had been wanting to try and I love Chinese food so that was a very obvious YES! So we all head to the restaurant, we get there and immediately Jamie has to go to the restroom but this isn't anything abnormal so I'm not thinking anything of it. He stops and talks to our waiter which I was like "what is he doing?" but Ash was like "He probably doesnt know where the bathroom is" which again made perfect sense so we went back to chatting and catching up! We order, we eat and then my FAVORITE part comes out.....

Back Story

I LOVE fortune cookies...I mean like love them. I used to buy big bags of fortune cookies at the farmers market and just eat them all the time lol.

Okay back to the story;

So they bring out the fortune cookies, and I am locked in not even paying attention to anything else except this lovely fortune cookie! I open the fortune cookie, eat one half as I grab my fortune to read it and the first thing I read is "Makayla" I am COMPLETELY taken aback and kinda freaked out (seriously thought I was in the movie Freaky Friday). Then I continue to read and it say's "Makayla, I love you. Will you be my OFFICIAL girlfriend?" At the same time Jamie is playing "I want you" by Pretty Ricky on his phone! It was so extremely cute and thoughtful. Oh, and I said yes!

*The importance of "OFFICIAL"*

During our relationship up until this day I was constantly picking on Jamie about us being UNOFFICIAL.

Jamie: "This is my lady Makayla."

Makayla: UNOFFICIALLY

Jamie: I love you.

Makayla: UNOFFICIALLY

Jamie: You love me!

Makayla: UNOFFICIALLY

So he made sure to change that UNOFFICIAL to OFFICIAL!

It is our 5th day at disney World, and our legs are EXHAUSTED, but we can't wait to go back to Magic Kingdom for the day! We gather up the fam and head to the park! We spend a good amount of our day playing with the kids, riding rides, seeing princesses, and hiding from the rain! We had decided earlier that day that if it rained, we weren't leaving. We would just wait for it to pass. We stayed in a restaurant for about 2 hours eating and taking cover from the rain and flooded park. Eventually, the rain slowed to a sprinkle, so we all put our ponchos on and were ready to go ride more rides! As we are walking through the park, I remember that Magic Kingdom has one of the best firework shows, and everyone was already gathering around the castle to experience the Magic! So I suggest to our group that we should hang out and watch the fireworks before we continue to more rides. We almost chose to leave because one of the kids did not want to watch the fireworks, but then she decided she wanted to. The show kept getting delayed, and at this point, I was thinking it wasn't going to happen at all, so I was ready to go ride some more rides. Jamie offers to go ask a park employee if the show would be beginning, and they said it would be starting in about 5 minutes. FINALLY, the fireworks start, and then everything freezes, and nothing is happening....there was a malfunction. . .So we're all standing around confused. Do we wait? Do we go ride rides before the park closes? So Jamie runs back again to ask what's going on. They informed him this has never happened and they are working to fix it asap.

FOR REAL THIS TIME!

Yay!! They fixed it, and the firework show started! It's amazing. We're all soaking wet in our very fashionable ponchos, but the firework show is something truly magical. Jamie is standing behind me, holding me and Jaelynne, who is in a baby wrap on me under my poncho. He is telling me how magical this trip has been, and I agree with him (especially for the kids). He's telling me how great this family vacation has been, and he asks me

Jamie: "You know what would make it even MORE magical?"

Makayla: "What?"

Jamie then moves around me, gets down on one knee, and pulls out the most gorgeous ring!

Jamie: "You make me so happy! I love you and I want to spend the rest of my life with you! Will you marry me?"

Makayla: "Finally! YES!!!"

We kiss, he places my ring on my finger and we are OFFICIALLY engaged!!

(Side note)

Jamie and Matt were in on this plan together, and Matt held the ring for Jamie that day at the park. Matt's daughter didn't want to watch fireworks, but he talked to her, and she decided we could watch it after all!

When Jamie was going and talking to the park employee he was informing them he would be proposing and NEEDED the firework show to happen!

Good job babe, you did a great job!! I love you!
