Can I bring a +1?

We understand you may want to make a trip out of your time in Scotland. If you would like to bring a +1 to the wedding, please send us a message or email!

Where is the castle located?

Dundas Castle is situated near South Queensferry, approximately 25 minutes (12 miles) by car west of Edinburgh city centre and about 15 minutes (5 miles) from Edinburgh International Airport. The nearest airport to Dundas Castle is Edinburgh (EDI) Airport which is 4.3 km away. Other nearby airports include Glasgow (GLA) (64.6 km), Newcastle (NCL) (149.7 km), Aberdeen (ABZ) (155.1 km) and Inverness (INV) (178.4 km). Dundas Castle is located just south of the Queensferry Crossing. Guests should enter by the main gates of the estate leading from the B800, which runs between South Queensferry and Kirkliston. Please be advised that the Dundas Castle postcode is not recognised on any GPS navigation systems but by entering EH30 9SS you will be directed to the B800, where you will see the sign for the front entrance to Dundas Castle.

Does Dundas have any activities?

Guests can enjoy free activities such as mapped walking trails around the grounds, the indoor squash court, and the Billiard table. Dundas also has a 9-hole golf course.

When do we need to RSVP by?

We ask that RSVPs be submitted no later than 15 June 2024. This will help us ensure catering, accommodation, and seating arrangements are available for all guests.

What do I do if I can’t make it?

Please mark your RSVP invite as ‘cannot attend’ as soon as possible. This will help us provide accurate numbers to our vendors.

Will my cellphone (mobile phone) work in Scotland?

WiFi will be available at the castle, but if you're extending your trip before or after the wedding, we recommend getting an eSIM for your smartphone. Our top picks for eSIM providers are https://esim.holafly.com/ and https://www.airalo.com/. You'll want to ensure the package you choose covers the United Kingdom and any other countries you may visit on the trip. Alternatively, you can purchase physical local SIM cards at most airports or convenience stores to pop into your smartphone. You may be able to arrange a travel pack with your phone provider (SaskTel, Telus, Bell, Telstra, Optus, etc.). However, we typically find this is the more expensive route if you use your phone often.

Will the ceremony or reception be indoors or outdoors?

Weather pending, the ceremony will be held outdoors. They say that rain on your wedding day is good luck, so if we are blessed with it, we will move the ceremony inside.

How much daylight will there be?

The average day in Edinburgh during August has 15.1 hours of daylight, with sunrise at 5:42am and sunset at 8:49pm

Is there parking available?

There is a complimentary car park at the rear of the Castle. Please note there is no parking at any time in the Courtyard.

We're staying offsite. What transportation options are available?

Do I need to wear a kilt?

No, but if you're up to it, we recommend https://www.kiltpin.com. Keep in mind they are closed on Sundays.

Is there a dress code and what should I wear?

The wedding ceremony and reception dress code will be 'festive attire'. You should opt for something that looks fun, put-together, and stylish, but there is no need to pack an evening gown or black tuxedo for this wedding.

A formal sit-down meal will follow cocktail hour. Outside alcohol is not permitted so there will be a bar will be available throughout the festivities.

Can we take photos at the ceremony?

Absolutely, but we ask that you please watch out for the photographers and videographers. We want them to be able to do their best work without having to dodge iPhones in their way. If you take pics, we'd love for you to share them with us!

Who do I call in the event of a medical emergency?

If it's a critical emergency, always call 999. If you have an urgent illness or injury while you are in Edinburgh, telephone NHS24 on 111 to speak to a health professional. Calling 111 will direct you to the Right Care in the Right Place and ensure you are cared for as quickly as possible. NHS24 also offers an interpretation service. Please don’t go to a hospital unless you need emergency life-saving care. If you have a minor illness, a pharmacy is the first place you should go for advice, alongside visiting NHS Inform for more information on Right Care in the Right Place.
