DONT FORGET YOUR PASSPORT! We cannot stress this enough. Also CHECK THE EXPIRATION DATE! As a general rule of thumb, don’t let it expire within 6 months of traveling. Pack your passports now!
Is it safe to leave the resort?
While it is often reccommended not to leave the resorts in Cancun and surrounding areas due to safety, this does not apply to the island! In fact, we highly encourage you to take a walk down Playa Norte, browse the shops in town, and go out to enjoy the nightlife! We as a couple have never felt unsafe or run into any suspicious activity in our many years roaming around Isla Mujeres. (This being said, please remember to take proper precautions as you normally would while traveling to an unfamiliar area.)
Tip money?
We highly encourage our guests to tip the servers. This can be in USD or pesos, we usually use USD. We suggest getting small bills like $1s and $5s for tips. While not necessary, we have gotten to know a lot of the servers over the years and these tips make up a large part of their pay that most use to support their families.
