Brad and I had been acquaintances at work for a couple years before we started dating. We would see each other on calls and talk (always after the patient was tended to, of course). He was always so sweet and genuinely kind when he didn't have to be. So when he was injured on a structure fire, I went to visit him in the emergency department and when he tracked me down to thank me (thank you social networking) we decided to have a play date. After seeing how engaged he was with his children and what a truly amazing father he is, I knew he was somebody I wanted to have in my life.......and the rest is history!
We had both been working together for a couple of years. We would see each other on and off, here and there while running all over town. It was not consistent, but I always really enjoyed seeing Jamie. I would always wonder when the next time our paths would cross, and be looking forward to it. We never had very much time, so I would always try to make the most of our short conversations. I always wanted more time with her, but we always had somewhere else to be. I found myself one night in an ER, I just happened to be there at 3am. I was sitting in a room, and Jamie also just happen to be at the ER as well. She came in and chatted with me for a little while, asked how I was doing, and then had to be on her way. It was really nice to talk with her that night at 3am, and just by chance we both happen to be at the ER. So... I wanted to thank her for her time, and thanks to Facebook I was able to contact her. From there we started talking outside of work, and decided to spend time with each other outside of work. We happened to live in the same part of town, and had very similar adult responsibilities (i.e. our children). This gave us an opportunity, and something that we had largely in common. We are both dedicated parents to our children, and they all happen to be close in age. We found we had so much more in common than we had ever imagined. Our short conversations at work were just the beginning for us. Spending time with Jamie has been truly amazing. She is an incredible person who I fell in love with. She is an amazing mother, who dedicates herself to making sure everyone is taken care of. I am very lucky that I just so happen to be passing through the ER that night.
