Our Wedding

Jamie and Jake first met in January 2020 at a Washington Capitals game. Jamie immediately noticed Jake (cute, but definitely needed a haircut). Jake, meanwhile, didn't say a word to her the entire night. A few weeks later, they sat across from each other at a friend's birthday brunch. Jamie left thinking Jake was the funniest guy she’d ever met, though it might have been the mimosas. Soon after, Jake slid into Jamie's Instagram DMs — twice. Jamie and Jake went on their first date on March 5, 2020 and talked for hours. A week later, they joked over Coronas that it might be the safest beer around, and three days later the world shut down. With everything closed, they got creative. Jake would drive 30 minutes each week just to go on long, socially distant walks with Jamie through Rock Creek Park. It wasn't glamorous, but those walks quickly became the highlight of their weeks — and the start of something really special. Since then, they have traveled across states and continents, moved in together, got engaged on the beach, and bought their first home in Alexandria. Their lives have been filled with laughter, design disagreements (you've heard about the dagger), and love —and they can't wait to start the next chapter with you by their sides.

Our wedding will be a Black-Tie affair. Tuxedos or dark formal suits are suggested for men, and floor-length gowns or elegant formal dresses for women.We can’t wait to celebrate in style with you!

Dress Code

We have a room block at The Chateau Grande Hotel including King and Double Queen rooms. The block is for Friday-Sunday, but you can select only one night if you prefer. Note: We request that guests arrive for our ceremony at 11am as the ceremony will begin promptly at 11:30am. Please use this link to make your reservation and make sure the rate says "Kopp/Chavis" or call the hotel directly and mention the Kopp/Chavis Wedding! The hotel is about 100 feet from the venue.
