Nate and Jamie’s story began in August of 2021. They met the only way there was to meet new people during the pandemic— via a dating app. Nate’s profile was full of baseball references, and Jamie’s profile was full of pictures of her time at Clemson. They met for tacos and talked until the restaurant closed before walking to the bar across the street to continue getting to know each other over drinks and live music.

As their relationship continued to grow, Nate and Jamie recognized that while they are very different people superficially, they are alike in a lot of ways that matter. For example, while Jamie spends most of her time in a research lab and Nate spends his time on a baseball field, they both love Jesus and want to prioritize building their relationship on him. This led them to the realization that they complement each other perfectly, and they want to be with each other forever.

In April of 2023, Nate recruited friends and family to lead Jamie on a scavenger hunt highlighting significant places in their relationship. Jamie and her friend Elizabeth drove to the church she and Nate attend together, the taco place where they had their first date, the cinema near Jamie’s old apartment where they would walk just to get popcorn, and the zoo where they celebrated Christmas together. Jamie’s final clue led her to a bridge on the canal downtown where she and Nate loved to take walks, regardless of the weather. Nate was waiting with the ring, and Jamie immediately said yes (much to the delight of the onlooking teenage girls). Ever since, they have been planning what their future would look like, together. They cannot wait to be married, and they are looking forward to celebrating their love with their friends and family!
