Here are some fun things to do in and around Springfield, Missouri — perfect for making your long Memorial Day weekend a full experience.

Silver Dollar City

This award-winning 1880s-themed amusement park in Branson, Missouri, features thrilling rides, live shows, unique crafts, and classic Ozark mountain charm. Note: This is located about an hour from the Springfield airport.

Johnny Morris’ Wonders of Wildlife National Museum & Aquarium

A huge and immersive museum + aquarium: it features a 1.5 million-gallon aquarium and tens of thousands of live animals across many species.

Bass Pro Shops

The original and largest Bass Pro Shop! It contains a massive aquarium, waterfall, and several restaurants.

Fantastic Caverns

This is North America’s only ride-through cave, so you don’t have to slog through steep hikes — the tram takes you through the cave.

Springfield Botanical Gardens

A beautiful garden setting, including a Japanese stroll garden, koi ponds, and plenty of scenic walking paths.

Dickerson Park Zoo

A family‐friendly zoo with a good variety of animals and attractions.

Route 66 Car Museum & Downtown Route 66 area

Springfield is known as the birthplace of the iconic U.S. Route 66, and you’ll find fun landmarks, signage, and vintage vibes.

1984 Arcade

$10/person all night arcade featuring your favorite ‘80’s games and pinball.

History or Ghosts Tour at the Pythian Castle

Built in 1913 by the Knights of Pythias as a retirement home and orphanage for its members' families. During World War II, the military took it over in 1942, using it as an officer's club, a hospital, and a place to house German and Italian prisoners of war.

Note: 4-8 person minimum, so get a group together!

Worth the Drive:

If you want to spend time in nearby Branson or Table Rock Lake, let us know for additional suggestions, but here’s some of our favorites.

Big Cedar Lodge/Top of the Rock

This place has it all - golf, go carts, arcade, dining (we love the Devil’s Pool and Osage restaurants for a fancy meal). Take the Lost Canyon Cave golf cart tour and see the Sunset Ceremony overlooking Table Rock Lake.

Dogwood Canyon

Spend the day in an incredible nature park. Ride a bike, hike, take a leisurely stroll, tram tour or horseback ride.

Some of our favorite area restaurants to try:

Leong's Asian Diner

Famous for inventing Springfield-style cashew chicken. We love their egg rolls too (featuring peanut butter)!

Black Sheep Burgers and Shakes

Creative gourmet burgers, flavorful smoked fries, and unique shakes (boozy and non-alcoholic). Make sure to get the truffle fries and thank us later.

Metropolitan Grill

Steaks, seafood, and pasta. The flash fried spinach is a local favorite!

OMO Japanese Soul Food

Sushi, Ramen, Bento Boxes and Noodles in a trendy environment. Make sure to visit the “World’s Largest Fork” nearby (Fork address: 2215 W. Chesterfield St. Springfield, MO 65807)!

London Calling

Follow on Facebook to find their Fish & Chips or Pasty Food Trucks all around Springfield and Nixa.

Lambert’s

The “Home of Throwed Rolls” and homestyle cooking. You may have a wait but those rolls are worth it!

Worth the Drive:

India Clay Oven, Branson

Our favorite Indian food place anywhere!

Reed Spring’s Pizza Company

Voted #1 pizza place in the state of Missouri! Kaden’s favorite as well!

Mel’s Hard Luck Diner, Branson

Where the servers sing to you because they are also performers in the Branson shows. Delicious diner food including great hamburgers and shakes and grilled cheese.
