Jamie was a counselor at Carol Joy Holling Camp in Ashland, Nebraska the summer of 2014. Trevor was a Senior High camper at the same camp the summer of 2014. One weekend, Jamie was hanging out with Trevor's best friend from camp. While hanging out with Trevor's best friend, Jamie got bored and decided to steal his friends phone to get Trevor's snapchat. Trevor and Jamie started talking over snapchat and they instantly became friends. Jamie was in Lincoln, where Trevor currently lived, and Jamie asked Trevor, through snapchat, if he wanted to go get some ice cream. Trevor agreed and they met at Yorgutini in Lincoln. On September 1, 2020, Jamie asked Trevor, through snapchat, if he wanted to go hammock out at camp to star gaze. Trevor quickly agreed and they met at camp. Before they started to pack things up, Trevor asked Jamie to be his girlfriend and Jamie quickly said YES. Then finally Trevor asked for Jamie's phone number before they left for the night.
