Jan and Austin met while they were both attending Saskatchewan Polytechnic in Saskatoon in 2018. They started dating in the fall of 2018.

In 2019, Jan continued post-secondary schooling at the U of S in Saskatoon and Austin moved home to the Viceroy, SK area to help with the family farm. They drove many miles back and forth for two years, seeing each other almost every weekend. Jan and Austin moved in together into Austin’s great aunt and uncle’s farm south of Viceroy in January of 2021.

These first five years were only the beginning to a wonderful lifelong journey together. Austin proposed along the alkali lake in their farm’s back yard during a picnic on August 5, 2023.
