In August 2018, Janae and Brandon met in Chem 112 at Penn State. Janae was a sophomore and Brandon was a freshman. It all started when Brandon sat next to Janae and her roommate, Bri.

One thing about Penn State is due to the large number of students that need to take general education courses, they often utilize clicker questions in class. Clicker questions are an anonymous "quiz" for the class to complete to see if the material needs more attention or if the instructor should move onto the next topic. As a now, chemical engineer, Brandon has always had a very good understanding of chemistry. Janae and Bri, however, needed some extra explanations from someone other than the instructors. What first started with Brandon giving the girls "hints" on clicker questions ended in personalized tutoring sessions at the library. It didn't take long before Janae and Brandon were inseparable and the best of friends.

After almost two years of friendship, it was evident there was a deeper connection. In September 2020, they were officially official! In February 2021, they brought home their first fur baby, Luna. Following COVID and a year of long distance, they moved together to Parkersburg, West Virginia in May 2022.
