Janelle and Marlon’s story began the way some of the best ones do—unexpectedly, in the warm buzz of a Kenosha bar called Sommer’s. Two college athletes crossing paths: Marlon, a basketball player at Carthage College, steady and driven; Janelle, a volleyball player at UW–Parkside, fierce and full of light. What started as a moment became a memory, and that memory quietly waited its turn.Life moved, seasons changed, and time did what it does best—teaching, stretching, shaping. Then in January of 2019, fate gently stepped back in. Janelle and Marlon found their way to each other again, this time with deeper understanding, steadier hearts, and a love that felt less like a spark and more like a flame meant to last.From that point on, they grew side by side—choosing each other in the small moments, cheering each other on, building something rooted in friendship, patience, and trust. And in March of 2024, Marlon asked the question that felt inevitable in the most beautiful way. Janelle said yes—not just to a ring, but to a lifetime of shared dreams.What began at Sommer’s became a forever kind of love. And this is only the beginning. ✨
