It all started with a swipe on Hinge. On January 21, 2022, we met for our first date at Tavern in the Square. Janet was incredibly nervous! We stayed until almost closing time, sharing stories and laughs. As we walked to our cars, Brian made sure Janet didnt have a “This Car Climbed Mt. Washington” bumper sticker (a dealbreaker, apparently), and we ended the night with a warm hug.
For our second date, we went to True West Brewery. Brian had just spent the day skiing and celebrating his birthday, debating whether he had the energy for another night out. But he rallied, picked Janet up, and later dropped her off at her apartment—just in time for a huge snowstorm. He even made sure she knew to put up her windshield wipers.
By our third date, it was Valentine’s Day weekend, and Brian arrived at Janet’s door with a single rose, playfully asking, “Will you accept this rose?” (A true gentleman—and maybe a bit of a Bachelor fan.) Over dinner at Frolic and Detour, Brian casually revealed that his first name was not actually Brian—it’s Charles. Later, as we watched the live band, Janet invited Brian to sit next to her instead of turning around in his seat. He took the hint and put his arm around her, marking the first of many cozy moments together.
Our fourth date was a movie night to see Death on the Nile. As the lights dimmed, Brian put his arm around Janet, and she slid up the armrest to snuggle in closer. Afterward, as Brian walked Janet to her car so she could give him some N95 masks, we stood outside in the cold, rambling on and on—until, finally, our first kiss.
And the rest, as they say, is history.
The Proposal
It was a typical night—Brian and Janet were sitting on the futon, catching up on The Bachelor. As they watched, Janet reminded Brian that they needed to start packing for their trip to Arizona the next day. Brian casually mentioned that he needed to grab a Gatorade from downstairs and left the room.
A few moments later, he came back—without a Gatorade, but with two ring pops in hand (watermelon and blue raspberry, for those wondering). He had searched for a grape-flavored one but couldn’t find it. Then, Brian got down on one knee and asked Janet to marry him!
Completely shocked and overjoyed, Janet kept asking, “You want to marry JLW?” Brian, laughing, slipped the ring onto her finger and gently reminded her, “Eventually, you have to answer the question!”
And with a smile as big as her heart, Janet said, “Yes! A million times yes!”
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love & support as we celebrate our next chapter together.
